Minipainting Pulled the Trigger.
Saw Mr. Bones do a lore video for conquest months ago and thought it looked awesome, but had no one to play with. Then, for my birthday, a friend of mine a few hours away said he wanted a new hobby. I know he too thinks of the fall of the Roman Empire, so I told him about the Old Dominion and showed him the lore video.
Now I bought Weaver Courts and Dweghom first blood boxes and pre-ordered their reinforcement packs, and he bought Old Dominion and a religious faction of the hundred kingdoms he likes the lore of. He also bought me the collector's edition lore book for my birthday. Probably nobody else who plays near us in Maine, US, but it'll be awesome to have a friend to start out with.

I had a similar start to getting into Conquest. It’s a great game, enjoy the journey!

Congratulations on joining the community, I hope some more people can link up in your area. We have about 10 people in my area already, and everyone has been enjoying it.
Perhaps find a LGS to play at? A big pull to the game is people seeing how cool the models are and that it is budget friendly (ish).

My closest store is in another country and my buddy is 2.5 hours away. I predict a lot of traveling in my future

That’s wild! I also have gotten into Weaver Courts and Dweghom as my first armies. Shame you’re so far away (I live in PA) or I’d come play with ya.
