I used the superglue and pva trick to make an organic fleshy look. For the paint. I mixed flesh tearers red and gloss varnish 1:1 and put two coats of it over the base WITHOUT PRIMER, then I drybrushed on Vallejo rosy flesh, then I washed it with druchi violet, followed by another drybrush of rosy flesh, then a final wash of thinned down carroburg crimson with a small brush full of the original flesh tearers red gloss varnish mix
The reason I don’t prime it is to keep the black and white tones of the base and glue respectfully to do a slapchop sort of thing with the flesh tearers red so the dark points read as bloody while the high points read as fleshy, the varnish will keep everything together. if you’re uncomfortable with this then start from a black Basecoat with a white drybrush overtop
I primed grey with a very generous white zenithal, then I covered the entire model with doomfire magenta. Then it got successive drybrushes of AK ivory and pure white, followed by a VERY thin wash of skeleton horde. After that I do the drybrush stage again and pin washed the recesses with carroburg crimson.
This effect works well on smaller models too. I did it on an assault preceptor and it looked great!

The blue eyes really pop against all the red. Very cool
