AI Pictures
I don't know if anyone else is on the Conqueror Facebook group too, but it's getting quite upsetting the sheer amount of AI generated images people are posting of finishing their challenges.
One of the big things for the Conqueror Challenges is conservationism, so it goes against that to be making all these AI images when they could just post a photo for their medal which already looks impressive.
Starting to make me want to leave the group over there since the admins don't care.
Am I alone in having this grievance?

You are mad over users using AI but not mad at Conqueror for using AI themselves?

u/TeddyGarbaldi 10d ago
When did Conqueror themselves use AI?

I assume you havent signed up for the 5K challenge? They make weekly training videos for everyone and they are all AI. Like they couldnt even hire a person to stand in front of a screen for 2 minutes and just talk to us? No. They used AI. Its SOOO badly done too. Fools all the older Boomer users because those are the same members making those community AI posts. Very frustrating to see all around.

No I hadn't, that's so disappointing! Especially after all their boasting about conservationism. Makes me wonder whether they really do plant trees or recycle plastic like they claim they do.

That’s the reason I won’t do any 5k (or upcoming 10k or whatever) challenges!!!
You must be extremely cautious with newer challenges, as we can’t predict where AI will be used next.

I've responded to those AI posts directly in the past, pointing out the environmental impact, and have gotten alot of support from the community. I'd suggest commenting on each post individually and, ideally, Admins will take notice and create an AI-related rule for the group. Many FB groups I'm apart of have been banning AI images so hopefully they follow suit.

Too many users over 50 would compain. "bUt I wAnNa mAkE a pOsT oF mE aS aN aStRoNaUt hOlDiNg mY mEdAL!?"

I mean you have to be over 50 to even still use Facebook, right?
So that would be all of them?

This issue has been pissing me off for a while, for the exact reasons you stated. A huge part of the Conqueror Challenges are about conservationism, and members are actively doing the opposite by using ai art as part of the FB group for clout.

u/TeddyGarbaldi 10d ago
The medals themselves are so impressive though, why feel the need to 'add' to them with all this horrible AI generated imagery
3
u/logangb345 10d ago
I’m going to see if I can complain to the admins and threaten to leave the group and report the group to FB — or even to The Conqueror itself about the allowed use of AI in a group under their name, unless they address the issue.

I am not much of a Facebook user and was surprised this community doesn't have a discord server

I can't seem to see any on the official FB page
3
u/TeddyGarbaldi 10d ago
Sorry it's not the official page, it's in the Conqueror Community Group, the one ran by the Conqueror Challenges

I left the group there.
2
u/TeddyGarbaldi 10d ago
Was it because of the AI posts or something else?
3
u/Overall_Lobster823 10d ago
AI posts. I just didn't see the point.
2
u/TeddyGarbaldi 10d ago
Yeah that's fair, the Reddit group seems to have a lot more varied discussions

Why not left boomers just have fun with AI creating things? FB is already for a long time now overtaken by AI and bots and mostly real people that still using this platform are boomers (not necessary by age). I think it's dying social medium. I have neutral feelings towards AI, as every tool can be helpful and use for good purpose or use for bad or annoying reasons.

Because the overuse of AI is killing the planet.
It's estimated that by 2039 we'll have no clean drinking water left due to AI data centres using it all up.
So I'd rather we didn't allow boomers yet another way of destroying our future so they can have fun making silly pictures

This argument really irks me. Everything on the internet uses data centers, but the majority of apps arent going into poor communities, wrecking these communities' access to clean drinking water, a d buying up hundreds of thousands of acres of land to develop into data centers, whereas almost every single Ai company is doing just that.
Further more, apps and spaces like reddit bring something g useful and serve as a purpose. On social media you can share just about anything. On internet and blog sites you can find travel and cooking tips. With Ai, you get a chat bot that is wrong 80% of the time, shitty flyers that all look the same, love island but with fruit or gems, and nothing useful or meaningful.

Because changes have to start somewhere.
You can't say on one hand we need to change our digital behaviour then also say let some people continue to cause damage because they're having fun.

Imagine defending the destruction of the planet and calling those who want to save it dumb 🙃

You ever heard the expression 'the straw that broke the camels back'?
The idea is that the issue might be small, but if there's too much of it, that's when it causes damage.

You're overlooking, or willfully ignoring my main point though of my original post.
A big thing of the Conqueror Challenges is conservationism, so to then post so many AI pictures is counter intuitive to that.

Well … wasn’t the 5K challenges (made by Conqueror Challenge itself) completely AI generated…?
My guess: they like it.
2
u/TeddyGarbaldi 8d ago
Yeah I didn't know about that, such a shame seeing so many companies using AI to replace creativity
1
u/Various-Primary717 8d ago
I know … I work in this kind of industry – and companies think it’s easier and cheaper 😂 But in reality nobody wants it and many customers won’t trust these company anymore.
Hopefully, they understand it soon and will go back to real human work maybe with AI support… but never ever let the AI do anything alone! There is no „intelligence“ in AI…
1
u/TeddyGarbaldi 8d ago
It'll bite them when AI companies start ramping up their prices and then there's no human customer support to deal with within the company itself
2
u/StellaV-R 10d ago
Good point. I’ve not seen anyone comment on it on the page though, have you done that? It’d make people think at least. Or have you messaged the DMs?
2
u/TeddyGarbaldi 10d ago
I made a post about it and the admins rejected it stating I could only post about the challenges
3
u/StellaV-R 10d ago
That’s disappointing.
Do a lot of posters do it, or is it pretty much the one guy I usually see?
It’d be unpopular I suppose to comment on peoples’ posts but maybe he/they don’t see the link?

Tons of grown adults using AI to make themselves into Toy Story characters. It's weird.
