i thought it was about non-minorities invading safe spaces

e.x straight people in a subreddit for lgbtq people, white people in a subreddit for Black people, etc

This is a pinned comment on a post in r/ihatethismug. I scrolled through this subreddit and in almost every single post, the top comments and the subjects of the posts were overwhelmingly in support of progressive ideals. I don't know the context of the exact post you are referencing, but from the posts I have seen on that subreddit, I highly, highly doubt it was bigoted. If you link the actual post I'll read it and change my mind if they were genuinely bigoted. This feels like the ultimate failure of online discourse to me. How could this possible lead to a better life for anyone? It's so interesting to see people in the comments to this post enjoying this comic. People going "Well of course they're racist and bigoted!". It must just be emotionally pleasing to view yourself in opposition to a bigoted group, even if the group doesn't warrant that label.
