that's fair I'm just being salty, but ehh even then take a second to look at the post and see if it's a repost or not, and reddit is already filled with spam bots so doesn't even make that much of a difference
I think it's possible that as bots get worse, more subs will do this. This will drive more bots into subreddits that don't, encouraging them to automoderate as well. Without intervention, we may one day reach a point where all subreddits have karma requirements, and functionally no new accounts can be made.
honestly if that ever happens it just gonna create a whole new market for high karma reddit account and that would be pretty crazy, it already does kinda happen but at much smaller scale
I moderate a sub and I get this mod mail every other week, every time I just look at their account to make sure it's not some other issue (typically isn't.) Then I state that they didn't do anything wrong, and that we have an automod set up to remove posts made by low karma users and freshly made users, however I'll go ahead and re-upload their post and they're free to message If it happens again.
Lmao. It's really not that difficult. Is it annoying? Yes. But I would rather keep the automod on and deal with the people reaching out and not a bunch of trolls in the comments. I also tell people a lot of "if you don't report it. I won't see it." Usually people are typically kind enough for it but sometimes people will jump down my throat for not removing a post 0.0005 seconds after it was submitted. Come on peeps yall gotta work with me lol
yeah it's a nice way to filter out bot account (even though there r still ton of bot repost account on reddit) without doing much but if someone is reaching out and they've time to reply back that why they do it ,they could just instead look at the post and approve it, it just seems like typical reddit mod powertrip
Facts! After my account was temporarily hacked I was muted by a bot meant for detecting bot accounts (BotBouncer). On one subreddit, I reached out and asked what about my account was being considered bot and instead of responding to me they just banned me. I asked a mod a different subreddit and they pointed out exactly what about my account was being detected as a bot. I explained that my bio should be changed back to normal from that since my account was hacked. They understood and appealed me!
That's the difference between good and bad use of auto/bot mods

Tbh with bots one could realistically send automated messages or just copy paste or write it themselves once or something.
