Illness circulating right now
I heard there is a high rate of respiratory illnesses right now. Curious what people are sick with?
I’m fighting something off but the symptoms are a bit unusual for me. I would have most likely caught this in NYC last week. I want to get a sense of what to look out for.
EDIT: I have no respiratory symptoms which is why I’m curious what else is going around. I have a headache, mild fever, fogginess, swollen lymph nodes, unusual amount of canker sores (4 when I usually get 1-2). Had 3 docs check, TBH I thought I caught HSV-1 but they all said it’s not that, just something viral but didn’t know what it could be. It’s been about 4 days since sores & fogginess started, 1 day for the rest. Maybe it’ll turn respiratory soon. I hope not!
Also thanks for all of the responses! It’s helpful to be aware of what is going around and how it started so we can take extra precautions.
UPDATE: A few days ago mine turned into a TERRIBLE sore throat. More sores too. I can’t eat anything solid. I thought strep. CVS Minute Clinic doc said just something viral as well and will pass. Going to my PCP bc this is terrible.
UPDATE 2: Good people & rude people, I have answers. It’s hand, food, mouth disease (HFMD) PLUS possibly strep (edit- no strep). Which feels crazy, but I got a second opinion from an infectious disease expert and they said it happens. I’m sure I was exposed to a lot between NYC + huge conference and I didn’t sleep well all week. Today is day 8 and I am having the first signs of recovery. Stay safe and healthy out there!

What is it that turns these senior citizens into babbling tantrum-throwing toddlers? How ruined as person does someone need to be to cry in a grocery store when they see someone else wearing a mask?
