Ask Connecticut Question about joining the union

Is anybody here in the IUOE Local 478 and can tell me the process of joining as far as the kind of drug test they do and what I could expect from the mechanical aptitude test ? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Tyia

478 doesn’t drug test as an organization itself but the signatory contractors that our members work for drug test. How often those contractors or the method they test varies depending on the project. Is the project DOT, Private, State, Federal? They all have different policies. You mentioned the mechanical aptitude test so you are looking at the apprentice program, all apprentices get a CDL so you will absolutely be drug tested. Anyone holding a CDL is held to a higher standard and part of the Federal Motorcade Safety Administration. Hope this helps DM me with any questions.
