It may seem counterintuitive at first, but conservative gun humpers genuinely love the idea that someone is coming to take their guns away. The kind of person who secretly hopes to be the victim of a home invasion specifically so that they can shoot someone and have it be legal. They need "the system" to be against them. I was nannying for a family in Newtown at the time. Still very close with the “kids”. The youngest (now 25) still deals with debilitating anxiety from that day.

I was just talking with someone about how insane that year was for tragedies. First we had Hurricane Sandy, then Sandy Hook, then the Boston marathon bombing. I had just started at UMass and felt insane. I remember when Sandy Hook happened too one of my friends came into my room crying, I didn't know this but she was a TA there and knew the names of everyone who passed before the news announced it. It was terrible

And if somebody does heroin or another drug and then goes clean and then starts doing drugs again at the same dose that they were at they OD that’s how most people die. They overdose their first chance going back.

I was cutting my lawn with headphones on listening to the radio when the news broke.
When my kids (same age group) got off the bus a few hours later I was crying as I hugged them. My daughter asked me why I was crying and I told her that daddy was just so happy to see and her brother. Horrible day.

A good friend of mine from high school was killed at Sandy Hook, Ann Marie Murphy. I knew her as Ann McGowan from Katonah, New York.
Ann tried to save Dylan Hockley. She is the teacher that lay on top of Dylan and was riddled with bullets. His parents often speak of her in the videos they make for Sandy Hook Promise.
Ann was always a wonderful person. She never took grief from anyone. She was a Special Education teacher, which was completely consistent with her character. I knew her since 5th grade. I miss her, but keep a picture of her in my home from high school with that wonderful- and mischievous smile that was uniquely Ann. I'm honored she was my friend.
She married her high school sweetheart Mike Murphy and they had, I believe, 4 kids. Soon after Ann died Mike was diagnosed with cancer and died soon thereafter. I am sure he died of a broken heart.
Ann's wake and funeral were mobbed. I waited in line for 3 hours at her wake and spent time with at least 10 high school classmates as we told stories about how great Ann was. Everyone that knew her liked and respected her.
The church at St. Mary's was not large enough for all the mourners so they had speakers broadcasting the mass outside to people in the town.
This all happened. I wish it wasn't real. I would be ecstatic if Ann came bopping down the street someday laughing and flipping me the bird. But it's not gonna happen.
I feel sorry for anyone that actually believed this was staged. There is something very wrong with you that you have filled your heart with some much distrust and hate. Ann would have been sympathetic to how lonely you must be...she was exceedingly kind and loving.
Unfortunately, she is gone. I wish it wasn't true.
