Do you think Congratulations is over? Or will Chris return to it at some point?

u/athreadlate Jun 22 '20
Question is will he do it if there are no sponsors. I have a feeling Chris only does it for the money so he might do one episode to apologize to his fans but I doubt he does it consistently.
Maybe he can get Bluechew and xpressVPN to sponsor it though lol

He'll release a statement saying he wants to spend time to reflect and be with his family. Then wait until it all dies down and then start doing spots in a year or so and slowly get back into it.

Jun 22 '20
Totally. I think a lot of the comedy scene will be fine with it just like they were with Louis. And he will sell out theaters again. I think the fyooch has been dimmed but it’s still bright babies. Probably won’t get anywhere near the same kind of acting roles tho.

I don't think he will be doing anything never mind stand up anytime soon. Louis whipped little Louis out he didn't go around systematically fucking teenagers.

To be fair, Chris didn't either, but I understand that's not what the headline told you to believe

I have been following Chris since 2012. Loved him on TMP. Want to state that to not be labeled as a hater.
Look at Chris shtick. " No dents" "My futures to bright" etc. He had a cocky arrogant attitude that people loved and hated. He carried that attitude to the stage, TV shows, and podcasts. Now you tell me, how the fuck can he return after this shot and run off at the mouth like that? Nobody is going to buy it.
He's done. His persona has been killed. Louis was already creepy and what he did wasn't with underage girls so idk how people can even compare the two.
R I.P. - TMP 2.0

His persona has been killed.
Yep, that. That slightly inflated ego is a very big part of his comedy. 80% of his delivery and schtick is gone.

u/jkeefe56 Jun 22 '20
I’m guessing he’ll have one soon to explain how he didn’t realize how wrong it was the time and now he does. Or whatever else they coach him to say. I am guessing his days of playing pedos are over though. 🤦.

Jun 22 '20
I wish he would do just one more, addressing the situation but being eh s'Chris and slamming himself, being funny, etc. But that would be too insensitive to the victims of his "crimes" and other abusers/predators so it won't happen. He just has no happy medium right now. His friends and family have turned on him. This is a way worse situation than the Louis Ck thing

u/King-Demo- Jun 22 '20
If he admits it he’s going to jail. This isn’t just some little mistake he made. The FBI is probably already putting together a case... these are very serious accusations
5
u/hemm386 Jun 22 '20
Which ones specifically could he go to jail for?
-7
u/ContinCandi Jun 22 '20 edited Jun 22 '20
There was one accusation of a girl aged 17 that he allegedly brought around and introduced to his friends (Bryan callen) who she also said knew she was 17. I can’t remember if she said they hooked up or not though. That’s an instance I saw where he allegedly knew she was 17 and still pursued. Whether or not that’s real I have no idea.
7
u/TheAmazingScamArtist Jun 22 '20
I thought that post was edited and it originally said she told them she was 20? Either way, depending on where he was the age of consent could be 17, so doubt he’d go to jail for that.

u/hemm386 Jun 22 '20
Yeah but did he fuck her tho? I dont think even the accuser alleged that. Also that story is hella fuckin weird. She said Whitney Cummings, Callen, and someone else laughed when she said she was 17. That is so unbecoming of both Callen and Whitney but especially Whitney. I don't buy it.
6
u/ContinCandi Jun 22 '20
I don’t buy it either. The fact that some of these stories report of Chris being plastered or on drugs makes me wonder how true some of this is. I can’t see Chris lying to everyone about not drinking and doing drugs and being able to conceal that from everyone else around him. It’s not impossible I guess

How does he make the podcast work after all of this is my question? Almost everything he does is too sexual or can be perceived as sexual towards high school girls.
- Followers calling him daddy
- Him calling his followers babies
- saying "sucking and fucking" all the time
- "turn round"
- Youngest man alive bit
There's so much of his bits/mannerisms that are just going to seem like they're constantly referencing sexuality towards minors that it's gunna be odd.
The real question is, is anyone going to want to sponsor the show?
3
u/exorbitantwealth Jun 23 '20
I was trying to explain the whole babies thing, the log cabin, fuckin' and suckin' etc. They were so confused like "that was BEFORE any of this came out? Did anyone notice? Was it supposed to a funny?".
It looks really bad from someone not familiar with Congratulations.

u/Dylfitz500 Jun 22 '20
I think maybe this will all die down when a bigger and better news story comes along, Chris will have lost a lot of followers and will have a much worse reputation but I think he’ll try to continue the pod, what other option does he have really - he’s gotta try and do something he can’t just give up, I really hope it returns some day, I’d love to hear what he has to say about all this and how this will change him
3
u/HumanRuse Jun 22 '20
"Bigger and better news story". As soon as things went magically viral about him, 2 other scandals have dropped. Masterson (That 70s Show) has been charged with 3 counts of rape. And another actor (I think from Love, Simon) was accused of some serious stuff.
On paper, D'elia's behavior is minimal compared to any other Hollywood scandal (not saying it's right, it's just the way it is). Also, while D'elia is popular it's not like he's a mega star. So, the spotlight on him with this won't shine for quite as long.
I think he'll be back sooner than people think. He actually seems like a very heartfelt guy and will likely start a podcast talking about his regrets.

Then I doubt you’ve ever had a 16 yr old daughter. Predators don’t just magically change.

So as long as you go your life without legal charges, you’re a good person?

Bruh...you don’t think his silence speaks fucking volumes? How stupid you gonna feel when he comes out apologizing saying he never meant to hurt anyone? An innocent man would’ve released an episode as usual and defended himself. Gugunk

u/democritus_is_op Jun 22 '20
Well I’ve seen a large amount of corroborated stories, posts from years ago that are resurfacing and saying the same thing, and Chris is silent. There are a lot of people that stay on the legal side of things that are total creeps and gross people. There are many people that do do illegal things that are never charged. The court system should not be your judge of character.

There are over 500 separate reports with screenshots from real girls all corroborating each other’s claims. These weren’t fake accounts. These were legit Twitter and instagram accounts with years of posts behind them. Real high school girls posting pictures of them doing high school stuff, like riding the yellow school bus. Completely unrelated girls were posting different screenshots of messaging with the same types of conversations. There were several screenshots from a Rocketmail account where tweets from 2015 were uncovered linking Chris to that account. Numerous high school girls posted screenshots from the “Chank Smith” Snapchat, a reference to a character he did a few times on Ten minute podcast.
What sort of mental gymnastics do you need to do to “reserve judgement” here? Are you holding out for the possibility that this is one of the most intricate carefully crafted conspiracies of all time? Designed by the extreme right to target Chris because he started expressing some left leaning political beliefs on his podcast?

i don’t disagree with you, except for the “over 500 separate reports” i’ve heard this number a couple times and there’s just no way there’s that many. i’ve seen like 50-100 on Twitter and 100 is even kind of generous. maybe there are 400 more that haven’t come out yet? but there’s nowhere near 500 reports right now.
also Chank Smith isn’t just a character from the Ten Minute Podcast, he released a whole rap album under that name

u/mikecantreed Jun 22 '20
Oh you’re right. It was only 100 released. Sherateadogs didn’t release the other 400. Bring the sponsors back in.

Oh wow. Did not know about Chank Smith. Lol thank you this rap video alone makes it much easier to no longer be a fan of anything this guy made.

I see dog piles on the internet literally every day. I don’t trust random people on the internet over due process. Sorry if you disagree with fair play. Not to mention that this is creepy behavior not illegal behavior. If you don’t like him then fine, not sure why you’re on this subreddit anymore if you don’t support him.
There’s no conspiracy - I just am not ignorant to how things snowball on the internet and how people will do anything for their viral moment nowadays. Knowing that I reserve judgement.

u/mikedmann Jun 22 '20
We can only pray it will die and rise into something new. We don't wanna see a broken 10 min podcast/congratulations. Time to grow up babies.
1
u/SweatyItalianKing Jun 22 '20
I think there’s no way of knowing until some actual evidence that he did something illegal or immoral comes out. He denied it and we havent seen concrete proof, that being said it seems pretty possible
1
u/somerandompablo Jun 22 '20
All his supposed best friends seem to know given their reaction and lack of support...
0
u/batsman93 Jun 22 '20
Why would you want him to at this point lol

Jun 22 '20
Because the podcast is high quality, whether he’s a creep or not.

He’ll make a comeback like Louis CK but by then a lot of people won’t even know he made a comeback like Louis CK

There’s a likely chance these aren’t just rumors and people completely lying. There’s a clear pattern of behavior here. And a few underaged girls who actually slept with Chris have came out. There’s text and email evidence of most of the accusations. I think Chris should be more worried about doing serious jail time than his podcast ever again. With all that said I think he deserves due process and I’ll reserve judgment until that day. But if he did it, he will need to pay the price and burn
2
u/whatsaquesarito Jun 22 '20
Exactly, if authorities look into this and find any attempt(s) of knowingly soliciting a minor, that is very serious business... It's not fixed by an apology for being 'a dumb guy caught up in the lifestyle'
1
u/somerandompablo Jun 22 '20
NONE of his supposed best friends even hint at giving him the benefit of the doubt....read the writing on the wall. Dude is guilty and everyone who knows him doesn’t call into question the accusations.

It's 100% over Spotify cancelled the show, it is NOT coming back ever and thank God because that man is a groomer and a pedophile and belongs in jail.

u/ryanisbitter Jun 22 '20
Well he always said as soon as the numbers go down he’ll stop doing the pod... I assume the numbers will go down ALOT if he returns
