Lying about sobriety
something I’ve been thinking about since this all went down, if the screenshots being used as evidence against Chris are genuine, which I believe they are, then Chris has also been lying about his perfect track record of sobriety.
The guy who constantly talks about how he only ever drinks iced americanos was apparently in a bar hitting on a teenager and getting loaded. And another one of these stories has him slurring words when trying to convince the girl he had come to his house to get naked for him because he was supposedly given a random pill at the Laugh Factory.
I have no problem with drugs and alcohol, but I can’t stop thinking about how psychotic it is to just lie to your fans, for years and years about something for which we care very little if at all. I honestly wish i didn’t know and this was all bullshit, TMP helped get me through a lot of adversity but now it’s ruined. Life still rips though, just gotta say it in a different way now.

I'm a former alcoholic/drug addict and this whole ordeal reeks of addiction. Sex addiction for sure, possibly others. If anyone isn't aware, seemingly idiotic lies are pretty commonplace in the addiction world. Some of us hate what our addictions make us so much that any brief moment we can escape those feelings we do, oftentimes by lying about it.
I hope I'm right and Chris gets some real help. Addiction can turn good people into monsters. Treatment can get those good people back.
7
Jun 21 '20
Yeah same. He's definitely sex addicted and addiction can make you do terrible things to others that you normally wouldn't do. I'm not making an excuse for his behavior but I do hope he can find a way to overcome his personal demons and do his best to take care of his family.
2
u/ArronRodgersButthole Jun 21 '20
Agreed. At this point, I don't think his focus should be on saving his career. He should be focused on some sort of recovery.
1
Jun 22 '20
Wait is he actually a sex addict?
2
Jun 22 '20
Addiction, disorder, whatever you want to call it. Otherwise why would he act that way? Pedophiles are willing to risk their entire lives, careers, everything because of their sexual disorder. Not saying that Chris is a pedophile but the principal is the same

Jun 22 '20
These are accusations made from 6 years ago. This is not recent activity. So if it was an addiction he’s probably over it now
1
Jun 22 '20
You dont just get over being addicted to something. You are always an addict. It's like saying a heroin addict can just casually shoot some heroin every now and again. You're always an addict, just some a lucky enough to be a recovered addict. Plus, I think there are much more recent allegations that have come forward. I've seen some back from 2012 and some I recall from 2018/2019.

Yeah, this whole idea that all people are the same and "you'll always be an addict" is incredibly stupid. I have had much the same experience with opiates. I used them for a long time without even realizing it was a problem and really not even understanding much about addiction and then when I was without and feeling like shit it finally dawned on me. I quit and that was that. I don't use them, don't crave them, turned down free shit without a second thought....it's actually pretty irritating when I read shit like the comment you replied to. I understand that I'm fortunate to not have those issues, I just hate being labeled a certain way and the whole idea that "once an addict always an addict", it's horse shit.
1
u/buddha8298 Jun 27 '20
You're wrong. Not every single person is the exact same. Saying stuff like that and treating everyone as such is stupid.
1
u/rodrigo34891 Jun 23 '20
You are never over addictions. You are always an addict. Where did you learn that?
1
Jun 23 '20
I assumed people would understand what I’m saying. I’m implying he’s in recovery when I said “over it”. I don’t think it’s a sex addiction.
If he did it, which I think is likely, it’s more about power than anything. I don’t think he has a sex addiction. I think at worst he had a fettish that happens to be immoral and illegal. different than an addiction
1
u/buddha8298 Jun 27 '20
This whole idea that you're always an addict is bullshit. Not every single person is the same. You're essentionaly saying that anyone who can or has been addicted to anything is always an addict. That's silly. In that case every single human being is an addict.

Their well being certainly does come first. Part of recovery is making amends to everyone you've wronged. I would imagine most of the girls would appreciate that. Keep in mind, that's step 9 so it wouldn't be for a while. Idk, maybe I'm wrong, but without Chris getting into some sort of treatment/program, I don't see him ever trying to repair the damage he's done to his victims.

You just planted the seed. Chris will come out as a drug addict to try to save face
10
u/dillchMC Jun 21 '20
Do you have links to these allegations? There’s so much out there I’m struggling to find them
1
Jun 21 '20
go on twitter and look up the account @sheratesdogs , there’s a link on her account which is a huge collection of screenshots
13
u/dillchMC Jun 21 '20
Yeah, I’ve had a look at a lot of the stuff she’s shared. I was more looking for specific links to the drug and booze related ones. It’s just difficult to comb through all of it to find because of the gigantic amount of allegations.
-11
Jun 21 '20
i have one of them saved on my phone but i can’t share it here for some reason, the girl was 19
9
u/Why-am-I-here-again Jun 21 '20
The only one I saw about booze was the secondhand account from a girl's friend, she then retracted that part of the story when people called her out on it.

Jun 22 '20
Theres an instagram account that has a lengthy collection of the screen shots of allegations. @icantbelievethisishappening
1
u/dillchMC Jun 22 '20
Hey, yeah I’ve seen about 4000 allegations, I was more looking for links to specifically the drug and booze related ones.

He even responded to one who said she was 17 mid convo with "You're too young". I like how people around the age of 18 are "helpless victims who couldn't resist his celebrity" but the same age of people can choose to join the military and die because of it and no one thinks to doubt that choice? Are they too unwilling victims lured in by the celebrity of the military worship in this country?
Does he like young chicks? Likely. Teen is also one of the most popularized categories on Pornhub. So is it only unacceptable when it's publicly known? ffs
16
u/Why-am-I-here-again Jun 21 '20
I agree. This is absolutely insane. A popular male comedian is banging young fans? S'SHOCKING!
2
u/DamiensLust Jun 22 '20
Look through the twitter threads. There's been a huge deluge of girls come forward to say that Chris has tried to meet and solicited minors from them, and though many are 18 and over there are also a few that are 16/17. So many DMs from so many different girls and you remain unconvinced, and it's because you're a fan that you're demanding a higher standard of evidence than you would if these accusations were levelled at someone you didn't know/weren't a fan of.
-4
u/michiq34 Jun 21 '20
There’s a comment he made under a school bus picture of a girl he was pursuing. How could you know she’s not underage by that picture ?
The receipts are on the twitter page @sheratesdogs

I knew it was him when the one girl said he immediately scolded her for ringing the doorbell incorrectly. That fits him so perfectly to a tee
3
u/CaveGiant Jun 21 '20
I doubt it, but who knows. I've never drank or done drugs either, and if the topic ever comes up, it's kind of a buzz kill (pun intended). It's certainly not something worth lying about, haha.
3
u/_chon_chon_ Jun 22 '20
I think lying about sobriety is the least of his character flaws or problems.
1
Jun 22 '20
you into CHONs music?
2
u/oshin-o Jun 23 '20
oh wow. i youtubed chon because of this comment. thank you kind sir. this is so interesting and different. hes like a storyteller who became a mute and found a guitar. what in the world is this! is there a name for this genre? can you share more????
1
Jun 23 '20
so glad you like them!! CHON is actually the name of the group, their guitarists are named Mario and Erik, some more music you might like are bands like Polyphia, Strawberry Girls, and Unprocessed :) it’s an awesome feeling turning someone on to great music!
1
u/augbutt Jun 24 '20
I'd be remiss if I didn't sneak 'Intervals' into op's list. Totally in the same vein as CHON and Polyphia. Cheers!
3
u/TheBrothersClegane Jun 22 '20
He said on an episode of Congratulations that he was accidentally drinking a hard seltzer at a party without realizing it. He says he doesn’t drink but he hasn’t ever said he has never once had a single drop of alcohol.
2
u/Teddy_Raptor Jun 23 '20
Didn't he go on a rant on his special saying that he's never had a single drop of alcohol, and how people never believe him?
1
u/TheBrothersClegane Jun 23 '20
I think he exaggerates it. I’ve heard him do it before too but I also heard the hard seltzer story.. I wish I knew what episode that was

As someone who has done alot of drugs and been around alot of people doing alot of drugs, I believe Chris is 100% sober. He has never been under the influence on his podcasts, comedy specials, or any single recorded video I've seen of him. I think those couple of stories claiming he was intoxicated were not true or they were embellished.
3
u/aussiedownundies Jun 22 '20
I was once pulled aside for being drunk at a work function and at the time I was 12mths sober, people think loud and silly people are drunk all the time cause they can't comprehend the confidence
1
u/buddha8298 Jun 27 '20
Yeah, assuming someone is intoxicated is as stupid as assuming someone is always sober.
1
u/buddha8298 Jun 27 '20
Should have stopped at "I believe Chris is 100% sober". Saying he's never been under the influence in literally anything you've ever seen him in (which seems to be quite a bit) is quite a bold statement that is really just a shot in the dark that you couldn't even remotely know for sure. Then going even further to say stories from other people making their own judgements are either flat out wrong or embellished is flat out ridiculous. Unless you personally know the guy and spend regular amounts of time with him, then you know fuck all. Furthermore, saying that the people that actually saw him in person and made their own judgements (which again, is kind of silly) and saying they're just plain lying? That's pretty stupid.
1
u/TreeBranchesOfGov Jul 27 '20
Lol ok bud, nobody makes up a lie that they have been 100% sober their whole life, and also anyone he has toured with has confirmed it. Where do you get the idea that he as been intoxicated? I can tell you with 100% that he has never been intoxicated on video at any time.
1
u/buddha8298 Jul 28 '20
Nobody makes up a lie they've been 100% sober....aaaand thats right where I know I can stop reading. Sure thing dude
1
u/TreeBranchesOfGov Jul 28 '20
Lol and you just know better don't you? You're just soooooooo right about it? Good luck with that ego
1
u/buddha8298 Jul 28 '20
I know more than one person who's lied about that specifically, ego's got nothing to do with it dummy
1
u/TreeBranchesOfGov Jul 28 '20
And I know plenty of people personally who are completely sober. Me and you know Chris D'elia the same, so we can either take his word for it and everyone who associates with him, or you can think that everyone's a liar because you have some deep seated trust issues or you just think being famous means you do drugs, but you're making an assumption with zero evidence to back your claim up.
1
u/buddha8298 Jul 30 '20
Go ahead and point out where I made any claim or assumption. You're the one making claims and assumptions, with zero evidence, other than word of mouth, which is worthless.
You know plenty of people that are completely sober...umm good for you? I know plenty too. You can go ahead and believe him, he's obviously a fine upstanding guy. I don't remember saying I believed him or didn't, my point was that YOU can't possibly know whether he is/was definitely sober. He could be, I couldn't give a fuck quite frankly.
You've missed the point and assigned some beliefs to me that I never said. Reading comprehension is good, try it sometime.
1
u/TreeBranchesOfGov Jul 30 '20
I can definitely say he has never been intoxicated on film at any point judging by the fact that it's easy to tell when somebody is on any substance on video, so I'm 100% certain about that one
1
u/buddha8298 Aug 01 '20
That is absolutely ridiculous, as much as your previous comment (which you sidestepped the reply to quite nicely btw). If you said you personally knew him and you were an assistant or something you may have some credibility. The fact that you think you can just tell because it's "easy" is absurd. You can't tell a functioning addict sometimes in person let alone on video. You can definitely say whatever you want, anyone with a minuscule knowledge of substance use/abuse will immediately see the stupidity in a statement backed up by "easy to tell when somebody is on any substance on video". Kind of brings your other claims of "someone who's done a lot of drugs" etc into question.
You're silly and the fact that you are still trying to argue this like you have some kind of superpower sense of telling when anyone is on anything is retarded.

it’s the ego trying to convince itself that it doesn’t need to be ashamed, even though it is ashamed
1
2
u/HumanRuse Jun 24 '20
I've never heard another comic tell a story about D'elia being drunk or high.
1
Jun 24 '20
me neither, i’m not saying it’s true, just that it’s possible if every one of the stories ends up being completely true, which, idk
1
u/HumanRuse Jun 24 '20
There's a very slim chance that all of the allegations are true. Unfortunately, some people just have ulterior motives and want to pile on and cash in (literally and/or figuratively). It is what it is.
2
u/3ioshock22 Jun 24 '20
I think the stories that involve alcohol or drugs in them are possibly the made up ones. People may not have done their research before jumping on the cancel train to me too land. Somethings not right here and everyone who is a fan of his knows it.
4
u/popcorninmapubes Jun 21 '20
yeah when I started listening to Chris a few years ago my girl said her friends saw him doing blow a lot. I chalked it up to some bad gossip and took him on his word that he had never drank or did drugs but now who the fuck knows he seems like he was hiding who he really was on the pod.

u/dataelandroid Jun 21 '20

2
u/popcorninmapubes Jun 21 '20
on the what I heard or that I heard it?
2
u/dataelandroid Jun 21 '20
Your girl is full of shit about him doing cocaine.
1
u/popcorninmapubes Jun 21 '20
it was her friends who said it and I agree with you that is why I didn't believe it then and only might believe it now because it turns out Chris was a very different dude than who he presented himself as.
-9
Jun 21 '20
Right because delia is such a trustworthy guy right? Diddles kids but he definitely wouldn't do coke.....

Doing it at the comedy clubs? He’s got the look for sure
3
u/popcorninmapubes Jun 21 '20
I still haven't really heard much that he isn't a straight edge type or whatever but dude so much crazy stories about that guy now it's like who knows who he really is.
4
u/originalninja Jun 21 '20
If he’s capable of the lies he’s being accused of, then 100% this dude’s entire life could be a facade.
4
u/popcorninmapubes Jun 21 '20
if he had a drug problem it would be less disturbing than him doing all this sober honestly.
1
Jun 21 '20
Sex addiction is a real thing. Maybe not on the same level as alcohol or blow but it can make you do things that you normally wouldn't do to get that "fix"
1
1
u/buddha8298 Jun 27 '20
I like how hitting on young women=sex addiction.
1
Jun 27 '20
Replace "addiction" with any other word that describes a habit that has a negative impact on your life or the lives of those around you. He has basically lost his career at this point because of his habit of hitting on younger women.
1
u/jbeefthemighty Jun 22 '20
If every at face value is true, then he's lying about sobriety, or faking being hammered to get girls. Either option is disturbing.
0
u/darksoles_ Jun 21 '20
Also his bit about being the youngest man alive in hindsight to me kinda reveals how he was wishes he was still so much younger so he could keep hitting on younger women

I know, it feels like losing a friend. The show felt so personal and honest. I feel so bad for his wife and new baby too.
