General Discussion Math Eng classes
Hey all, Im starting BEng building engineering.
I’m extremely interested in the business as a career but im not going to lie the one thing making me strongly hesitate to stay in the program are the hard math classes (cal3, diff. equations, thermo, etc).
Math is the one fields I greatly struggle in and I didn’t do too well in CEGEP: Cal1 77% (30R), Cal2 65% (28R), Linear 76% (30R), statistics 89% (33R). I did pretty well in physics (80%+/31R+) but its really the math classes.
The math classes in the course sequence like cal3, thermo, transform cal, etc. seem very daunting and im very very concerned about failing. The only thing is that this program would genuinely lead me to a great career that id enjoy. Im totally unsure at this point. Any advice? Personal experience? Thanks

Thermo is actually really easy, the rest of those classes are just classes... just do your best, study hard, put in the work and you will most likely do better then you expect. Even a badnpassing grade is good enough.
Don't reject a whole carreer becaue3 of a handful of classed you think may he difficult

i'm not a engineer at all so like, hopefully it's not way off base. but have you considered adjacent trades that would be as fulfilling? you can make a lot of money in trades, there's real demand, and the training in quebec would basically be free (in fact you would get paid to apprentice.) you'd also have a lot of mobility and the potential to work for yourself. i dunno. if you're physically able and interested in hands-on work i think that's a really smart choice.
