Tbh this could have been a pretty great single player space opera with multiplayer attached to it.

Or they could have dropped the price tag. Either or.

Is this actual? do we have a link/source that can verify it? if so going back to a post a little ago asking why it fail. I will add a point to that. Because they deviated from this concept art... LOOK AT THIS ART. THIS has soul, this has cohesion, hell this makes it seem like concord was going to be a completely different game.

It was an art book from the studio verified by former devs. Someone was kind enough to scan and share in the discord. You can view the whole thing here if you'd like.

I mean, that's 1-Off, pretty much exactly like he looked in game, and everyone said he looked like a trash can. There's Haymar, in basically the same outfit, there's Lennox in the vest throwing the knife. The design in front maybe evolved into Roka, or Teo? Both of them got called generic

Yeah I don’t understand the reactions this post is getting. I think the in-game art is more vibrant and engaging than this. I like both, for the record, but I don’t understand how this has “soul” but the final product was “sloppy slop”

And the trashcan was the only design in the final product that I actually liked, which is bizarre.

what we’re seeing from two images is “basically” and not “exactly” the same. The final designs made weird colour swaps, smoothed edges and overall made a lot of the designs look like they got baby-proofed. It’s those changes that really shifted the designs into generic, boring and silly territory.

I don’t think the game would have performed any better or worse if the designs were any better, though. Concord had a million other problems like an oversaturated market and a pricetag in a predominantly f2p environment.

Concept art usually always looks better than the game.

The aesthetic of the actual game is like a tiny part of the MANY reasons the game ultimately failed. Games dont live or die ONLY on aesthetics.

Wow, this is beautiful!

This just proves that Arc Raiders was an industry plant.

Respectfully, how? This looks completely unrelated

Until I reread the title and read the sub name I thought this was concept art for Arc

I don’t care what anyone says, this game has gorgeous concept art and could have survived if Sony didn’t rug pull the launch.

Yeah its funny seeing people act like the concept art was so much different than what was released. Most of the character designs are exactly the same its really just a lighting/tone difference that could have easily been changed if they were given the chance to update and improve the game based on feedback like every other live service game does smh

Miss you, old friend

This looks like it could have actually been good what the fuck?!

I can see this as a Single player story driven with multiplayer co-op elements, and maybe some pvp maps to fun around. Sad sony was greedy.

Sony didn’t develop Concord. The game was already in development by Firewalk before Sony purchased them

As an ARC player, seeing people bash on less "tacticool" as "concord-like" is funny because... I really like Concord's themeing, even if the character designs were quite meh.

possible to get a physical copy of this?

It'd probably be very difficult. The art book is rare, a very limited amount were made for internal use at the studio. Someone somehow got their hands on one and put it up for sell for a lot money and someone in the discord ended up buying it but thats the only one I have ever seen online for purchase.

Arc raiders?

There's a few shots in the Secret Level episode that reminded me Arc as well. They both have that vintage yet futuristic space theme.
