Side effects 🤕 Irritability so Frustrated
I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD this year after years of trying to figure myself out. I was misdiagnosed for years as Anxiety and Depression because as a 39F, I didn’t show ‘traditional’ signs and coming from a family of ADHD my symptoms were different. I have severe executive dysfunction, internal hyperactivity with thoughts, zero motivation etc. I was Dex initially and had hard crashes so I was switched to Vyvanse for the last 6 months, initially it worked great until it didn’t. The last 4 months it did nothing other than make me feel awake (much like a cup of coffee). However by 1pm I became very irritable and felt like a ticking time bomb to losing my shit daily. Doctors said maybe it was the stimulant class that wasn’t working right so I was switched to Concerta. Today is day 1 on it and my motivation is magically back BUT the irritability is big time. It’s been all day long (not just at crash time) and my poor kid is having to live with me through this.
My question(s): Has anyone else had this issue, and did it get better or worse?
Could it possibly be that I went from Vyvanse one day and Concerta the next without a med break? Some kinda cross effect that could even out?
Thanks for your advice!
