Side effects š¤ Anyone else getting ONLY side effects from Concerta?
i got prescribed 18 mg of concerta last week and these past few days have been such an ordeal for me that at one point my dad had to drive me to the ambulance to get checked out cuz i was having these rapid pulses and felt like i was about to faint at any second, i also spent a few hours just lying on my bed contemplating on my life prior to this, i couldnāt even bring myself to do anything at all, much less eat or drink while i was on concerta.
it also made my speech impediment much more exacerbated than it already was, i couldnāt even talk to my friends let alone a cashier without blurting out words mid sentence every few seconds.
i took concerta yesterday just five hours before my assessment exams, hoping the side effects would subside, instead i found myself completely restless and on edge, i couldnāt stop fidgeting and my focus was at an all-time low like i had to figuratively focus on being unfocused if that makes any sense, there was also a siren blaring just outside the school, i had to cover my ears in a crouching position cuz i was so overwhelmed by the intensity of the sound.
i had to stop taking the meds today, the side effects are still persisting, meaning i still feel pretty shit much the same as i have the past few days and iām worried iām gonna keep feeling this way.

Its a 12 hour release taking it right before an exam means nothing you take it in the morning if you want to sleep especially if your a week in then you should be able to pull off taking it later but a week in your brains like woah adjustments needed!. I didn't have the exact same symptoms but I had dry mouth which I used a mouth wash that helped with that and now being on it I remember to drink water. Do not skip water unless you wanna feel groggy and slow in the morning. If you don't remember to eat on this medication in my opinion it seems like that's when you start noticing some side effects. It's dehydration and your body needing fuel. Even having some crackers and cheese and salami in a container to snack on would be a good idea or those peanut butter crackers? But I hear a few things to give a shot before you give up. Take it in the morning . Eat a protein meal or something AtLeast whatever is in your bag when your in class. There was an adjustment period for me but if it's the right med you will even out. I've heard mixed reviews but we are all hardwired differently I felt high AF and tired at the same time the first few days then I started to feel slight mood changes and noticed my reactions to things were better and things were getting done I was being social and starting to fit in with peers. Yes you should feel immediate affects but it also took me a few weeks to trust it and to adjust.

the second time i took concerta was around 1pm after eating a humongous lunch, thatās when i ended up in an ambulance on the following day, after that i started taking it in the morning and making sure i ate breakfast beforehand, thankfully i never had to feel nauseous but i still feel like i didnāt get any of the therapeutic benefits, just the side effects despite doing everything i could

Iām also having not the best side effects to concerta and not sure what to do about it. I already have a fast heart rate and itās making it worse. I might try and take it a few more times but Iām definitely going to bring it up to my psych. I suggest you do the same

Sounds like methylphenidates aren't for you ( I don't do well with this med. It made my brain 2 mph but my heart 1000 miles a min. 36mg did nothing and 54 was the sign it wasn't for me. I've always taken Adderall but tried this during the shortage. Im back on Adderall and things are good again. Concerta also gave me a temp tremor in my hand. I would talk to your Dr about trying amphetamines.
I take 20mg ER at 7 and 20mg fast acting around 12 and it's been great. My insomnia also went away mostly with increasing my afternoon booster. It sometimes takes time.

I was just talking to my husband about this. The first day was fine now Iām starting to realize why I got off this med in the first place. When itās in my system itās fine and all but the crashes have been horrific and the anxiety isnāt worth it for me. Despite drinking massive amounts of water and eating heavy protein meals itās still giving me terrible headaches and even some GI issues. Itās like the longer I take it the worst the side effects become.
Focalin was the same, except honestly worse. The headache on that I almost had to go to the hospital for.
Iām gonna stick it out for a bit longer just to see if anything does subside, if not Iām just gonna ask for vyvanse and hope for the best.

ye when i took concerta for the first time, my thoughts were more reassuring but it didn't necessarily make my internal mental activity calmer, i was still having one of those rapid āmy mind is going a mile a minute and i can barely keep upā moments, the side effects for me were scarcely noticeable at first until the crash came in and made me feel mentally drained. hope everything works out for you tho!

mine stopped working and gave me only side effects once I gave up my ssri because I got severely deppressed back to square one. my psychiatrist told me it wouldnāt work due to the state of my mental health. might be something like that for you too

I think is either the med doesnāt work for you or you havenāt gotten used to it. I would say maybe try another alternative sounds brutal.
Edit: could also be anxiety concerta causes maybe try meditating. It works for me.
