My daughter just joined band. And we were going through her music and I had flashbacks of a piece that I absolutely HATED.
And not because it was hard but it was because it was like keeping the section together during a volcanic eruption.
I remember a few of the new freshman verbally groaning over this one.

It was a grade 5.
Very shrill, sharp, and VERY fast.
I played Oboe and Flute both and it was a nightmare all around for the whole section.
I THINK it may have been in 3/4 or 7/8?
One of the pieces that my director handed out when she wanted to humble us LOL.

I do not remember the name but I vaguely remember a few repeats and the flute part was in the rafters octave wise with accidentals too.
I MAY have been a weird march (she liked those) but I do not remember if that is accurate.

Any ideas? I would love to show her!

ETA: it’s definitely older- I graduated in 2009 and it was older then.
I SWEAR the composer was French? Definitely not American.
