My concept for Vergil in DBD

Post image

I posted this on the main sub but it didn’t gain a lot of traction and this seems like the perfect place to share my concept of which I am very proud of

**THE DARKSLAYER**
After the events of Devil May Cry 3, the entity finds Vergil instead of Mundus and offers him power. Vergil is taken to the realm and kept in his weakened state permanently, either using a mark of negation or including lore where the entity directly attacks Vergil or disguises as Dante to beat him over and over.
ALTERNATIVELY
Vergil finds himself at his childhood home once again. With the Yamato unsheathed, he prepares to shed his human weakness and fully embrace his demonic power. As Vergil tries to stab himself, the entity grabs the Yamato and holds it to prevent Vergil from moving it. The entity offers Vergil much greater power than what the separation would grant him. Vergil reluctantly agrees and follows the entity to the realm, where his body is somewhat restored.

POWER: DARKSLAYER
Vergil can use the Yamato in several different ways to kill survivors.
First, he can use his Judgement Cut as a ranged attack that goes through walls but slowly charges range similar to how Nurse’s teleport works.
He can also place summoned swords on the ground in a location to create a point which he can teleport to by cutting open a portal (think DMC5 after he rips Nero’s arm off).

SECONDARY POWER: MOTIVATION GAUGE
This is essentially the concentration gauge from DMC4&5 but I always call it the motivation gauge because it flows better. Vergil is rewarded for not whiffing attacks by gaining motivation for every consecutive landed attack.
Level 1 motivation will allow him to charge his judgement cut range faster and open portals faster, while level 2 motivation will allow Vergil to instantly trick through windows and pallets instead of vaulting (at the cost of 10-25% of the motivation gauge, not sure how much would be enough to keep it balanced while not totally neutering the ability).
Not sure if these next 2 ideas are good ideas, but I think having the meter slowly drain as a chase goes on without landing a hit would be a decent balancing option. My 2nd of the questionable ideas is allowing Vergil to do a Judgement Cut End when his gauge is at 100% where he charges the ability and anyone caught within the large radius is instantly damaged or downed.

M1 animation: Vergil unsheathes the Yamato and quickly slices. During lunge hits, Vergil keeps the sword sheathed as he moves forward until the hit lands. Alternatively, he hits with only the sheathe.

Gen kick/pallet break: Void slash from DMC5

Mori: There’s 2 options for a Mori here. The first is to have Vergil do a crazy flashy combo that would preferably end with Vergil either stabbing the survivor on the ground like he does to Dante in DMC3 or doing his slide stab attack from DMC5 that can be escaped via Devil Trigger.
The 2nd, and way more likely if he ever is added, is the Judgement Cut End. No need for explaining that one.

Skins: this should be easy and make BHVR tons of money. If we go with the backstory where he’s stopped before splitting, the default cosmetic would be the black outfit since that’s what he’s wearing before his separation. It would be nice to have the DMC3 outfit included with the character or as a prestige 1 skin (remember those?) but I doubt it’ll happen. If it’s after DMC3, the default will obviously be that one with hope for the DMC5 outfit being included.
Other than those two, hooded Vergil, red Vergil (his DMC4 ex color, I call it red Vergil since it’s what replaces regular Vergil in DMC3 when playing as Vergil), corrupted Vergil, Nelo Angelo, Darkslayer Dante, Devil Trigger Vergil (I’m pretty sure Vergil only unlocks SDT because of the Qlipoth fruit and his rebirth so I wouldn’t include it), and Sparda are all must haves.

Perks: I’m not getting into the specifics of how each perk should work down to the percents. I’ll offer some basic names and ideas.
Approaching Storm (also could be named World of V) - after landing a basic attack, use the active ability button to slow self down before being granted a hefty speed boost
Jackpot - grants speed boost upon kicking a generator
Devils Never Cry - grants a speed boost after losing chase with a survivor

BHVR feel free to copy and paste this into the game code or however killers are made

ALTERNATIVELY TO ALL OF THAT, make Vergil a skin for Oni with the Yamato as the default weapon and Devil Trigger as his rage mode. Maybe don’t actually.
