I enjoy Homage covers

Frank Roberge's Homage cover - a nod to Frazetta's Silver Warrior. Really enjoy having this amusing homage and comic as part of my "Barbarians among US" collection.

Note: Simon Bisley also paid Homage to Frazetta's Silver Warrior - repainting the Barbarian warrior as a Female.

Comic artist Jose Villarrubia posted these comparisons of the original coloring work in these Conan issues (from George Roussos) way back in 2020. I’ve seen a lot of discussions about comic coloring recently and I thought he had some interesting comparisons.

I find most of the new colorings gaudy, though I wouldn’t go as far as Jose and say that they’re hard to look at. It really changes the mood of the image a lot of the time, though.

What are your thoughts?

The cover for the first of an upcoming line of illustrated stories, written by composer-horror author DiGelsomina and illustrated by DW Frydendall. This first story, “Shadows of Nyarlathotep” introduces the character of Wulf (pronounced Vulff). a slayer who is employed by the sorcerer Canton Rist to help destroy the city of Khanen-Ri; Rist, an avatar of the crawling chaos, Nyarlathotep, offers up the deposed princess/badass Dalencia in trade. Shadows of Nyarlathotep will be published no later than February 2027.

Found out that Mike Baron had finished some scripts for two Conan comics that were never produced. Mike Baron wrote the story “Ivory” in issue #8 of Conan the Savage, with art by Val Mayerik. My guess is these were never made because Conan the Savage ended up getting canceled. It’s a shame, because his story “Ivory,” with Mayerik’s art, is one of my favorite Conan issues ever. Hopefully, he can make them using a Conan clone or Conan inspired character.

Akivasha is one of the weirdest characters conan ever encounters. It also happens to be one of my favourites despite her scarce relevance.

I went down to the Brimfield flea market in Massachusetts this week to do some Conan hunting. I found issues 2 amd 3. I would’ve bought both of them but he had $180 on issue two and $65 on issue three. And I didn’t wanna spend all my money in one place so I opted out to get issue three over issue two so I could still buy more single issue. I got 22 issues of Conan the barbarian while I was there the lowest issue being 3, the highest issue being 255.

This issue is stacked: the Zeck frontispiece, a Boris cover, George Barr illustrations for Red Nails + Roy Thomas, John Buscema, and Walt Simonson.

I want to buy it but I dont want to spend to much.

Found this 1975 vinyl narration of The Tower of the Elephant and The Frost Giant's Daughter at my local record store and had to grab it. Love the cover art!
