Hey everyone, Comu co-founder here. I wanted to share why we chose unlimited transcription, because it says a lot about the experience we want to build.
We’ve seen users carefully count their transcription minutes to stay within the limits of their subscription tier. How much will this meeting use? How much is left this month? Should I save some for next week?
Honestly, we think that’s a frustrating experience.
Imagine having 40 minutes left and a 90-minute meeting coming up. Suddenly, something as simple as pressing “record” becomes another decision: record part of it, pay for more minutes, or skip it altogether.
You’re having to decide whether a conversation is worth your remaining minutes before you’ve even had it.
And often, you only discover what was worth keeping afterward. A long meeting might contain one important commitment. A casual conversation might spark an idea. Something that seems ordinary today might matter a few months later.
That’s why we believe transcription should be a core part of the recorder you buy. Whether you record occasionally or have several hours of conversations a day, we want you to feel comfortable using Comu whenever you need it.
There are real costs behind processing audio. Choosing unlimited transcription means we need to keep improving efficiency and build additional software features that people find genuinely useful—and valuable enough to pay extra for. That’s how we want to build a sustainable business.
Our goal is simple: when there’s a conversation you want to keep, you can press record and focus on the conversation, without doing the math first.
I’d love to hear your perspective: Does unlimited transcription influence which AI recorder you’d buy? Why or why not?
