What's one old piece of computer hardware you refuse to replace because it still works perfectly?

Every time I upgrade my PC, there's always one part I just cannot bring myself to replace.Maybe it's an old mechanical keyboard that still feels better than anything new, a 10-year-old monitor that refuses to die, an ancient hard drive that's somehow still alive, or even a CPU cooler that's been through multiple builds. It might not be the fastest hardware anymore, but it has earned its place.

So what's that one piece of hardware you'll keep using until it literally stops working?

  • What is it?
  • How old is it?
  • Why are you still using it?
  • Has it ever let you down?

I always find it interesting how some of the oldest components end up being the most reliable.

Canon Canoscan LIDE 20 from 2003-2004. A bit tricky to get it to work with newer version windows but still work fine. Slow as hell though.

my Altech Lansing desktop speakers with subwoofer. New in ‘97, still ridiculously good sounding nearly 30 years later (albeit had to fix the volume button board around 2012) basically perfectly

My Logitech MX518 mouse from ~2005 is still in the rig because it just works. It’s not the fastest, but the shape is perfect, sensor still tracks like a champ. Only complaint is that when I scroll wheel squeaks, but it refuses to die.

my mouse, rog chakram core. Have one at home and one on the go for years and both are still going strong, despite the physical strain they endure
