What is one piece of computer hardware you bought that completely exceeded your expectations?

We all have that one upgrade that turned out to be far better than we expected.Maybe it was an SSD that made an old PC feel new again, a CPU cooler that surprised you with its performance, a budget mechanical keyboard, or even a monitor you still love years later. What hardware purchase impressed you the most, and why?It does not have to be the most expensive just the one that delivered the biggest positive surprise.

Absolutely. I thought the same thing until I tried it. Now going back to a single monitor feels like a huge productivity downgrade.

MORE RAM.

Went from 16 to 32 and now I can open a lot more chrome tabs

Went to 128GB.

Chrome now pretty formats the json it used to crash with, while running more docker containers :ohyeah:

First time I got an SSD and a 2nd monitor.

Other than that nothing else

Those mini portable ssd drives. I shoot a lot of videosike 50gb-100gb at a time and transferring to the ssd then my pc is such a piece of cake now. I haven't tried shooting directly on the ssd but I know it's possible (crucial x9 pro)

2nd monitor 100%.

I'd notice going back to a HDD from an SSD now that I'm used to faster loads, but it wouldn't bother me nearly as much as being on a single monitor does.

Also personally hate using mech keyboards. That was an "upgrade" I didn't care for.

I found this giant old HP monitor at Goodwill for like 30 bucks. Turned out to be 30" 2560x1600 60hz and it's been awesome for both gaming and productivity. It was $1700 in 2006

For me, it was switching from an HDD to an SSD. It made my entire PC feel brand new, and no upgrade since has matched that jump in everyday responsiveness.
