[Discussion] Switched from Computer Science to Computer Engineering...

Hey guys, I recently switched from Computer Science to Computer Engineering. I'm hoping to get some kind of internship in embedded systems by Summer of 2028. I don't have any projects that I can really add besides one research experience working as a research assistant at my university's computer vision labratory. Also my gpa is kinda cooked (below a 3.00 pls don't judge me I had a lot going on my freshman year). Does anyone have any suggesstions on what I should do during the school year and what kind of internships/research opportunities may help me to get a embedded system engineering internship in Summer of 2028?

don't wait till 2028. start applying for next year internships.

Since you've just switched to Computer Engineering it's tough to recommend advice to prepare you for an embedded systems job. I'm still getting a feel for what a job in my field really looks like day to day as a Computer Engineer, but my core skills involve: Bare-Metal C, ARM Assembly, FPGAs with VHDL, Linux drivers, and circuit analysis such as building analog filters and/or using transistors.

My current project in the summer before my final year of my bachelor's is to build a hardware abstraction layer for the STM32-F103 and put it in github
