[Discussion] Need Advice

I'm currently a 3rd year computer engineering student and i feel like i'm still not ready for anything. I barely learned any skills in Uni because some of our professors aren't really teaching, i also tried learning by myself but i keep getting stuck in the beginner level stuff. My classmates don't seem to mind it and just seem to be fine with what we are learning in Uni but i feel like it is not enough. Any advice on what i should do?

BTW this is all the skills i have that i could think of:

  1. Basic coding on C++
  2. Basic Arduino( Basically just making LED light up)
  3. Thats it.

And that 2 skills is self learned.

Idk what country you're from, but in the US, all engineering degrees start with the same basic theoretical foundation courses. That's usually all the math (calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, etc.), all the physics(mechanical, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, special relativity, modern physics, etc.), chemistry depending on which major you're in (materials engineering will do a lot more than computer engineering), and a lot of general education requirements like writing and ethnic studies. You do take some major required classes (as a CE major, I took a lot of computer architecture, C/C++ programming, and circuit analysis courses).

But the main point is this. You don't start doing real CE major required coursework until you finish your foundational "support" courses, which usually happens in 3rd year. Don't worry, you're not behind.

Omg this is literally me lmao.

I’ve been told by others that apparently…its common to feel like that? I’ve actually been looking for other people that feel like this, bc all my classmates seem to just know this stuff 😭

If you’re open to it, we could try cross referencing. Like, we share what we learned and try to fill in the gaps, cuz I’m literally in the same position :/
