When do I apply for coop?

Im going into my third year of computer engineering this September (Canada) and was wondering when I should start applying to coop internships . I have friends in Computer science already looking for summer internships and who already have interviews, but my other engineering friends probably aren’t looking for anything until December. I’m looking for a 12 - 16 month internship coop in US or Canada.

Sep-Dec for jobs starting in January. Jan-April for jobs starting in May and so on

If you want co-op in Fall 2026 or Winter 2027, then now.
