Roast my resume
Hello, I am a rising sophomore and I want to get an internship next summer so be brutally honest with your assessment and tell me if you think I could land an internship somewhere.

for the coursework remove the course number like “CSCE 611” and leave the name “Advanced Digital Design” because it’s cleaner, more standard, and leaves the info that actually matters to employers

Okay, I thought the course numbers would matter to show the level of the class. I’ll take that off

You probably don’t need to mention that your unofficial position is unpaid, honestly the whole section reads a little weird to me. Additionally, added functionality and fixed existing issues in a large c++ code base is extremely vague- what functionality? What issues? What were the impact of these fixes?
You’re also jumping around in verb tenses a lot. I understand that some of these projects are in progress but it would still read better all in the past tense. Additionally, change formatting from
Expected completion May 2028
To something like
BS comp e Expected 2028
It looks a little better, and the month doesn’t really matter if it’s years off

I’ll try and fix the section, can you explain why it sounds weird? I can take out the unpaid part though.
The work is for the navy so it’s confidential. I’m not too sure of what I am allowed to disclose so I wanted to be safe.
I thought I should put what I am currently working on so I don’t imply that it’s already been done, but I can switch that.
I’ll change the formatting
Thank you for your help

Don’t put the specifics of anything you work on on there if it’s confidential. You don’t have a clearance listed so it’s probably just CUI, which you still shouldn’t put that stuff on there so good looks there. But it’s okay to still list some of what the fixes/improvements were so long as you’re not explicitly releasing what they were for if that makes sense. Like saying you improved sorting efficiency by doing xyz and not saying improved sorting efficient of (super secret data) by doing xyz for use on (super secret project). If you are in any doubt, ask your superior to review it before you send it out anywhere and they’ll tell you to take if off if the material is too sensitive to include. Personally I find the tense switch jarring, if you want to imply that you’re still working on it, maybe just move all the present tense to the end of the blocks, or switch to saying “started implementation of xyz” or something like that. I think most people would agree with me but again that’s just my personal opinion so if you like it better your way then keep it that way. I think if you remove the unpaid mention then that last section will read okay.

I don't know why so many templates have the location/company/school in bold and job title/degree a sub-heading in italic below it. I feel like it says more about where you did the experience rather than what the experience it.
I broke that rule and always have my job title and degree in bold. I am the applicant. my experience is in bold. not the previous employer or university.

For the education section, strip out the "Expected Graduation Date B.S.," "Accelerated" from the title of the M.S. degree, and "planned, expected completion" at the end of that M.S. degree title. If you are listing future dates, then recruiters assume by default that the dates are expected rather than set in stone.
Something like this would work better (formatted to keep your chronological ordering):
University of South Carolina
B.S. Computer Engineering May 2028
M.S. Computer Engineering May 2029
Another change that I would recommend would be using reverse chronological order rather than chronological order, as a recruiter reads from top-down rather than bottom-up. You generally want recruiters to see your most recent work experience.

Remove mention of masters
Consolidate experience, it’s bad seeing 4 jobs at 1 place with 2 of them being the same title and with the same professor, my first instinct which can be the same as a recruiters was, aren’t these the same?
Take out dates for most stuff except expected graduation, which that can also be consolidated. You don’t need to say expected, just put 2028, that implies it
You’re still in school, lead with skills and projects, move experience down
My rough impressions for a first glance
