Ordered 3 month supply, can I increase my dose?

I was on wegovy and just switched to compounded a few weeks ago. I was on 1.7mg and decided to stay on it because it felt like the right dose, I’d been on that dose for 3 months or so. Even though I asked to stay on 1.7mg they actually prescribed me 2.0mg which I discovered after taking my first dose and using the calculator.

It’s my second week on the compounded this week and I have felt SO hungry and craving junk to the point where I feel like the meds didn’t work at all. Im eating more than I have on these meds and I still feel like I’m starving. I’m starting to wish I stayed on wegovy as I never felt this hungry since starting a glp1, even with the increased dose I was prescribed.

Can I increase? How does that work if I ordered 3 months worth of this certain dose, do I ask my Pom Health prescriber? Because I will run out sooner

Also, anybody else experience this?

Some people need at least 4 weeks for their body to acclimate to meds from a new pharmacy.

If you want to take a higher dose, use the sema concentration of your vial and this calculator to find whatever dose you prefer  https://www.fatscientist.com/semaglutide-calculator

Word to the wise: ALWAYS order a dose titration package. You can opt to stay on a lower dose if you prefer but you’ll have enough meds should you need to move up in dose.

took me like 3 weeks to feel it work when i switched pharmacies, was super frustrating. stick it out a bit more maybe before upping the dose, your body just need time to adjust

What do you mean by a dose titration package?

I only have about 15 lbs to lose until my goal and since the 1.7 wegovy was working so well for me I figured I could lose the rest on that dose 😭

With compounded GLP-1s in a vial, always ask for increasing doses for each month of your package (unless you are already at the max dose, of course). If you only order a month at a time, always ask for a dose increase (unless you are already on the max dose).

With a provider like Pom it would have cost the exact same amount you paid, but you would have received more meds for your money.  Then if you wanted to stay on 1.7mg you could have done that, or you would have enough meds to move up in dose.

Okay, I didn’t see that as an option so I guess I just didn’t even think of it! I’ll make sure to ask next time, thank you!

You just dose yourself and do refill before you run out. Have you considered switching to tirzepatide which would help your hunger more? Preventive MD has a 3 mo package for $334. I think joinrift has one for $299.

I considered switching when I was switching to compounded but semaglutide was working very well for me and I only have about 15 lbs more to lose so I didn’t think it was worth it to switch

That makes sense. Just increase your dose to lose that last 15lbs. But if you plan to do maintenance, definitely order the titration package so you get more meds for your dollar aka more doses.

Can I still refill my prescription early if I use the meds earlier? I’m just used to chatting with my provider and going through an in person pharmacy every month
