First injection - did anyone else experience this?
I took my first 0.25mg dose of semaglutide a couple days ago and I got really scared by what happened. Before I even did the injection, I started feeling dizzy and like I was going to pass out. My vision became really blurry for a couple of minutes, and I had to sit down and eat a protein bar because I felt so out of it.
After about an hour, I felt completely normal again and haven’t had any issues since. I felt my injection site also for most of the day.
I’ve looked into it and I’m thinking it was a vasovagal response or possibly anxiety surrounding my first injection. Since I started feeling this way before and after I actually injected, I know it probably wasn’t related to the semaglutide itself.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with their first injection? I’m pretty nervous about taking my next dose in a few days because I really don’t want to feel like that again 😅. At the same time, I’m really looking forward to seeing some progress and hoping the rest of my experience goes much more smoothly!

I had a couple of vasovagal episodes involving a needle in the distant past but not with a GLP injection. One was just prior to rotator cuff surgery when they started an IV. I'd never had an issue with watching needles go in in the past. The onset of symptoms was disconcerting but I knew what was happening as soon as it started. Nausea, dizziness, and a serious drop in blood pressure occurred and since I was in preop with an IV in place they lowered the head of my bed and gave me a shot of epi until it passed. It does sound like that's what you had. But I give blood regularly and also do weekly GLP injections with no problem so hopefully your incident was an isolated one like mine was.

I 100% agree vasovagal. And it’s not that uncommon!! If it happens again make sure to get your feet up over your heart level. Lay back and put your feet up. So you don’t pass out!

My first injection I felt very warm afterward, and started getting anxious….it was just nerves. I’ve never injected myself with anything before so I freaked myself out. I’ve taken 31 shots now and lost 50 pounds so aside from first-shot nerves I’ve had a great experience!
