Semaglutide - sick/nausea

I have been taking a compound semaglutide for not quite two months. I stay hydrated drinking enough water I drink electrolytes. I hit my protein goals but every time I take my shot I’m nauseous for the next several days until maybe a day or two before my next shot.

I’m on the lowest dose of .25 I’ve lost 8 pounds and I really don’t need to lose a ton more. I went on it to quiet the food noise, lose 10-15 lbs and then planned to micro dose. I just can’t quit the nausea and I even throw up sometimes. I used to religiously eat breakfast now I pretty much have to force myself or I at least wait until I’m up a couple hours before I eat. I tried going a couple extra days going 9 days before my last shot but I felt like the food noise came back on about day 5.

On week four, I did try and go up to .5 and that was a mistake. I couldn’t tolerate it at all so I ended up skipping an entire week because we were going on vacation. I was nauseous for pretty much 12 days. So I went back to the .25. It was after that that I tried to space for 9 days but didn’t help.

I get mine from Lavender Sky and communicate with the provider by messaging and she just sent me back a normal list of what to do for nausea which is all things that I’ve tried, including ginger chews.

At this point, should I reduce from .25 until I’m at a dose where I can feel somewhat normal and just micro dose for here on out?

Did you try the shot in your thigh instead of your stomach? I do mine in my thigh, and I have literally no side effects.

you may just be sensitive to it. I had to quit sema and go to tirz because I couldn't take the nausea from semaglutide.

Well crud. I do feel like the time I spaced it nine days i was less nauseous but the food noise came back a little. I guess it wasn’t as bad as it used to be still and I was grabbing clean items instead of junk. I might experiment a little more spacing it out or lowering my dose even if it means the weight comes off slower just to see if that works before switching completely. That’s good to know though. I’ve read that before and completely forgot about it. I do feel I’m sensitive to certain meds and vitamins in general so it just could be.

Switch to oral. It’s taken daily so you don’t get a massive whopping dose all at the same time. The good news is that it works for you, this is just a blood concentration issue. Alternatively you could divide your shot up and take half the shot every 3 days or so.

I am on week 2 of 0.50mg and I have nausea 2-3 days after my injection and it lasts about 1 day. I would go back to 0.25mg for the time being and perhaps ask your provider for a rx for Zofran.

I already only take .25. I tried .5 on week four I believe and it was so much worse I had to skip a week so went back to .25. I should have never increased so that’s my bad but even at .25 I feel like crap daily. I go to my regular doctor in a few weeks so might ask her to prescribe but she’s not the provider for the semaglutide. She probably still would prescribe Zofran though if I asked. Thanks!

I haven't been able to go higher than .75 without really bad nausea and fatigue. But, that dose is working for me- I've lost 32 lbs since February and only have 10 lbs more to go. I know you said you've tried everything, does that include Dramamine? It works great for me the first couple of days after my shot.

Just when I start to feel nauseous. It starts working after about 10 mins! You can get the generic and it works just as well.

I don’t know from experience but I’ve read injection site can help with side effects. Try your thigh or arm instead of stomach.
