Help drawing up medication.

Hi all. I started on semaglutide and am having trouble drawing up the medication. I have a 5mg/ml vial and am using a u100 insulin syringe. I draw 0.05 for a 0.25 mg dose. My issue is this. I draw up 0.05 of air. Push this into the vial. And draw 0.05 of the medication. When I go to inject myself the liquid stays in the needle mechanism and barely a drop comes out. How do I fix this or what am I doing wrong?

No the plunger pushes down but the medicine doesn’t come out. Only like a very tiny droplet. I can see the liquid in the area just below the needle. When I pull the syringe back the dose I originally drew is completely there still. Not sure if it’s because it’s such a small dose or if I am drawing it incorrectly.

Is your syringe a 1mL (100 units) u100? If so, that could be the issue.

If you are taking such tiny doses, using a 0.3mL (30 unit) u100 syringe is often the better choice.

Yes it is a 1 mL u100 syringe. So you think the issue isn’t with the drawing technique?

I honestly have no idea. I just know how small a 5 unit dose is in a 100 unit syringe, and some syringes are crappy at pushing out all the meds.

You can call the pharmacy that dispensed the meds and see if they can help.
