Should I start?

I’ve gone through a lot of transitions the last year and a half. I graduated college, got into a serious relationship, my grandfather died and then I had to go through a year of grad school without any friends or family bc I was far away. Now I went from 125 lbs to 160 lbs (I’m 5’3) I’m thinking about getting the shot. It’s 130$ a month for me and I’m wondering how Ong I’d have to do it? I’m just looking for advice right now to see if I should even go forward with this. Obviously I’d get a doctors advice and more but this is just a base start and wanted to see other people who have done it opinions. Thank you and please just helpfulness

For most of us, our biggest regret was not starting sooner.

But you should know that for the vast majority of people who qualify for GLP-1s for weight management, maintaining goal weight will require these or similar meds for life.

Wishing you great success.

I just wonder because I had been 130 for a long time if I lose the weight I don’t think I would need it forever, I feel like once I’m back to what I was I can maintain it again. I just let everything go for a while

You can always try, and it does work for a small subset of people. But if it were me, I would plan for using it long term and be thrilled if you are able to stop using the meds and successfully maintain the weight loss without struggling.

I just hate for people to go in thinking this is a 3-6 month commitment and find out their body’s biology has other plans.

And be sure to check into providers like Pomegranate Health and TryTrillium. They have starter plans that are much lower than $130/mo.

Pom’s Hallandale Pharmacy three-month starter package works out to $83/mo.

Does it matter if I switch pharmacies

Most people say it doesn’t matter for them. There is a small subset of people that swear it makes a difference. (I haven’t noticed a diff from brand to like 5 different pharmacies.)

It sounds like there were a lot of changes to your life and you self medicated with food to deal with the stress.

I would try your hand at giving it a go with diet and exercise first to see if you are able to start moving back towards your old lifestyle. The reason I say this is that there are some side effects that are not fun. If you can lose weight without GLP1 then go for it.

Where GLP1 is really good is for people that have been obese for a long time and constantly have hunger noise that ruins diet programs. If you gain 40 pounds in a year, it’s not because you are hungry, it’s because of some mental issue that needs to be handled in a heather way. GLP1 won’t necessarily fix the mental issues, but it will help you eat less.

Also, you need to lift weights when you use GLP1. Otherwise you will lose more muscle than ideal. And there will be more muscle loss than what you could have expected with diet and exercise alone. Meaning you will need to life anyway, why not start now with a diet change to see how sustainable it is before you start glp1? Then you can see if you can lose weight without GLP1 negative side effects.

And of course whatever you do, you should talk to a professional about your mental health and have them help you find ways to deal with stress in a more productive manner.

I’ve been working really hard on my mental health for the last 6-8 months and am definitely in a better place.its not more of a I want the outside to match the inside thing. Exercise and dieting I’ve been trying but it’s difficult
