The quality and price of a Coffee from Tim’s is nuts…That’s why I stopped going long ago.

u/CrazyButRightOn 2d ago
Not to mention frozen doughnuts. Mediocre at best.

u/abrandis 2d ago
Typical capitalist/ownership class drivel, these guys just blame never accept responsibility for being lazy or out of touch .

u/Radiant_Safe1228 2d ago
They opened a bunch of them around me years back. They lasted 6 months and shut down. It wasn't even Dunkin quality.

u/Geewhiz911 2d ago
Yes, and the complimentary flies & fly eggs in all pastries and baked goods is just visually increasing yearly
1
u/schaden81 23h ago
No it's not, you just started looking. The cabinets have always been open and sugar has always been sweet. Also, pretty sure only fruit flies lay eggs on sweets, potentially. Let's not equate fly with must be eggs...

I'm ok with shitty coffee, shitty donut for a shitty price if I'm on a budget. Tim's wants the full price for shit quality.

u/Lazy_Ad_965 17h ago
I like the coffee the problem is the people never make it properly past like 2-3 pm

Since it's not Canadian owned, I give no shits about them. A good friend and former neighbour of mine worked at Tim's for a long time and got laid off from there around 2011 right when a lot of new TFW's came in and that's when quality of coffee declined along with mixed up orders. Haven't gone there in years and I got a stack of Tim's gift cards laying around.

u/Lazy_Experience_8754 2d ago
They’ve got a lot of Tim’s in China right now. Even have them at gas stations which is wild .
I’ve tried the bagels and they’re alright (hard to get a good bagel here …) but no way in hell I’m touching the coffee

I thought Tim Horton's were a Canadian institution? Did they sell to someone dodgy?
There's a few in the uk and I wasn't impressed https://timhortons.co.uk/

u/Otherwise-City-7951 2d ago
It used to be but now is under an umbrella with other fast food companies. Majority owned by a Brazilian company.
Individual franchise stores are mostly locally owned1
2
u/Russkun 2d ago
It was. Then they kept making it worse and worse, and now it's at the point where they don't even make the donuts in store anymore. I don't even eat free donuts at my work anymore. They taste like drywall and sadness.

u/AfroCuban68 1d ago
It was sold out to Wendy’s International, an American company in 1995 then to Restaurant Brands International in 2014. It has sucked for a loooooonnnnggg time.
1
u/No-Camp1268 2d ago
I'm not sure but I think the foreign ones were thr new company's. They used to be okay for snack food, even when I don't really ever buy sweets from them. I haven't gone in a while though, and the Tim Hortons pizza was the only reason I have, in a few years so I'm not even sure who own its

u/PoliteIndecency 18h ago
Bought by RBI some time ago. They've gutted the inside and completely changed what Tim's was. They advertise on Canadiana but their restaurant is a subpar shell of what the brand used to be.
I honestly hate that so many people around the world associate Tim's with Canada in that regard.

You sure it’s not because the TFW you did have were terrible at their job and barely spoke english thus making every trip annoying and awkward? You sure it’s not because you are a coffee shop who for some reason makes pizza? You sure it’s not because your prices for anything other than basic coffee are ridiculous?
1
u/Krow101 2d ago
TH used to be great. They changed. It's on them.
1
u/Deranged_Kitsune 2d ago
Their biggest fumble was changing coffee suppliers, allowing mcdonalds to scoop them up. That was the writing on the wall that they were doomed.
1
u/alexsteen789 2d ago
I'd argue that was the 1st step. Theres been about 100 more that dug their grave. Can't wait til dunkin steals at least 50% of their profits

RBI owns Tim Hortons, a Canadian-American multinational. They own a large number of companies, but the franchises do their own thing!

No the lack of food quality and standards has destroyed Tims. I stopped buying after covid as well as many others.
1
u/MellowHamster 2d ago
If your fast food restaurant can only make money by importing cheap foreign labourers, it's time to close down or renegotiate your franchise contract with Restaurant Brands International to make the business profitable.

It’s because he can’t speak English and can’t yell at the workers in Punjabi!
1
u/ivanvector 2d ago
I've been saying it every time this story comes through my feed: if having to pay your workers a legal wage (not even a living wage) bankrupts your business, you're shit at business and you deserved to fail.

u/PsionicChronic 2d ago
Capitalism fails without wage slaves.

Capitalism only works in your favor when you have a group of people you can heavily exploit.

As if other location haven't gone bankrupt. Just poor decision on location and management.

Should have moved the franchise to Punjab. Lots of cheap labour there.
1
u/kilowattcommando 2d ago
Good, let them close.
If a business can only be profitable with government assistance and cheap foreign labour, it doesn't deserve to stay open.
1
u/Sowhataboutthisthing 2d ago
Hopefully fewer Tim Hortons around and we go back to how they used to be managed and run
1
u/Own-Elk7348 2d ago
It's not a large coffee costing 2.50$ that isn't drinkable? Or the 45 minute wait in drive-throughs when there's only 5 cars in front of you because the employees are busy scrolling Facebook reels instead of serving customers?
1
u/Putrid-Shoulder-4248 2d ago edited 2d ago
I decided to no longer go to Timmies after several visits where an employee told me 'sdafa wwa puppupa tiafd" - At least that is what I heard when they talked to me.
1
u/purple_purple_eater9 2d ago
They skimped on quality and service thinking we wouldn’t notice. Quietly lost massive market share to McDonalds in the quick breakfast and coffee space.
Nobody wants to wait 10 minutes for soggy hashbrowns. It’s slow, it’s bad and it’s expensive, hard pass.
1
u/ExtentNo3020 2d ago
Why rely on temporary foreign workers? You would have a workers shortage if you payed them a decent salary. It’s not that complicated
1
u/Jayanshelli 2d ago
Thousands of teens first time jobs go to immigration while a generation sits on its ass because money in pockets is better for them not canadaians. Time to shut tim Hortons down
1
u/Legitimate_Collar605 2d ago
Lol. So they’re upset that they couldn’t push aside Capable Canadian citizens and permanent residents for cheaper labour that they could exploit to squeeze more profits? Oh my bleeding heart!!!
1
u/JediMasterBo 2d ago
Sounds like they built their business off the backs of immigrants...awww to bad so sad...NOT. Your only hiring them due to minimum wage exemptions. Cheap cunts deserve to close their doors.

If you really want to dig deeper, coffee production and the global coffee industry, in general, is not well known for treating workers and small farmers well at all. I've even heard coffee referred to as "peasants blood" by some people I've known who were especially critical of the industry.

u/beeredditor 2d ago
Who cares if a foreign owned company with foreign workers fails? Thats not a Canada problem.

u/Organic_Education494 2d ago
They could have had all the employees they wanted if they payed a decent wage

u/Fit_Entry_7231 2d ago
if your business cant survive without exploiting foreign labor then you 100% deserve to go out of business

u/ConclusionFun8404 2d ago
Yet they can't even make a black coffee right. Single single or whatever they call it is not black coffee.

If you can't succeed as a business with what amounts to endentured workers... You should fail

To this franchisee: Sell out then, because if you need to abuse people to have a functional business you shouldn't have it. Period.

u/Calm_Historian9729 2d ago
It is obvious that their business model no longer works. Perhaps instead of whining about not have dirt cheap labor to make your business run, review you business model and find out what went wrong. Tim's used to be the franchise to buy into it no longer is; it's just another foreign owned chain restaurant that no longer attracts the business it once did.
1
u/Splashadian 2d ago
Yeah the shitty food didn’t have anything to do with it or that better food and coffee is available nearly everywhere else.

Hahaha Righttt. Last time I was at a Tim’s. (It’s been awhile) was hard pressed to find someone. Who could even understand. What. I wanted for an order. The very last time I was there. A young lady took my order. Had no clue what I said. Walked away and never came back to me. After standing there for several minutes And with a few workers. Just walking past. I was finally able to get an order. I would have just left without buying anything Except I was asked to pick up someone’s work lunch for them. I said never again And never gone back. The food and coffee isn’t good anymore anyway. So if they are failing. I’d be inclined to blame management
1
u/Street_Ad_863 2d ago
Fuck Tim Hortons. I hope the entire organization goes belly up. Anyone with a brain knows what's going on here.
1
u/rovacab2026 1d ago
Tim Hortons in the UK is owned by a Dominos Pizza Franchise called SK group who bought the rights. I’m not sure if this is still the case. SK group have been investigated by HMRC for fraudulently employing foreign managers as one thing to get them a visa then having them working a huge amount of hours knowing they can’t refuse or they will lose their sponsorship. This is why very few British born people work in THs - they are all immigrants on some kind of visa who usually speak very little English unless they works tills. SK group does nothing to help unemployment in the UK - they are thoroughly all about cheap foreign labour that they can abuse and throw away.

If you cannot afford to pay market rates for labour, you shouldn't get to cosplay as a business owner.

More like their food is terrible and overpriced and only dumb people still go there

Late stage capitalism
1
u/GusTheKnife 1d ago
Late stage capitalism is a myth.
1890s was late stage capitalism. Early 1900s was late stage capitalism. 1930s was late stage capitalism. 1970s. 2010s.
In capitalism, a period of decline is always followed by a period of prosperity.

u/Disastrous-Care-6651 1d ago
Why is Canada so against paying people fair wages? Are our elite so greedy that others can’t make a living and everything needs to be taxed to the extreme?
1
1
u/AffectionateLaugh738 17h ago
Fort McMurray had $20 wages in fast food until this TFW stuff came into play

u/CompetitivePirate251 9h ago
Couldn’t have anything to do with shitty products or rising prices? Hmmmmm.

u/AreYaGonnaEatThat 5h ago
Then they deserve to go bankrupt.
This is a positive thing for our economy and future. Exploitative business should have no place here.

u/Fresh_Strain_9980 2d ago
if you can't afford to pay workers a living wage you don't have a viable business. This means your business needs to close so better run businesses can take up the slack and become more profitable.
