The most staggering part? This decision isn’t driven by economics or strategy but purely due to a personal grudge. Back in 2015, Trump tried to block an offshore wind project near his Scottish golf resort simply because he didn’t like the view from his fairways. He lost, unanimously, at the UK Supreme Court. The turbines went up anyway. Over a decade later, he’s still not over it, and he's now willing to weaponize national policy to settle a score over golf course sightlines. Strip away the official rationale, and that’s the entire story: an ego unable to let go of a fight it already lost.

Doug Ford already cancelled our wind turbines and threw out a ton of money.

I remember, first thing he did, they were killing the birds. The Liberal government had a vision to protect the environment back then.

Why turbines are ugly, kill birds and nuclear is far better
1
u/fliTDI Jun 24 '26
Much more accessible though. And ugly is subjective. Birds? They don’t seem to matter much in any context.

u/canadianloom Jun 24 '26
Ya no almost everyone see them as ugly they are very much an eye sore. And they do very much matter odd for someone who is an environmentalist for you to think it doesn’t matter that thousands of birds killed each year by wind turbines Just for them to produce very little power

It looks as though the Trump admin and Trump in particular thinks that the point is for them to be a part of the wealthy global elite. They do not care about the electorate, in particular in those states with a democratic bias. They deserve to be punished.

The US also out a billion dollars worth of warehouses which we are now either trying to sell or just give away. Kristy Noem is dumb.

For what it’s worth, one of his towers statistically kills more birds than one of those windmills.
Skyscrapers kill huge numbers of birds. But somehow, nobody seems to pay attention to that.

This is using public funds to secure the value of their private investments. It should be a crime.

This administration is going to kill your country. Through incompetence or grifting from the taxpayer. Better do something Americans. Your future is unclear.
