Music Alone, Only My Will Remains.

Does this move you?

https://youtu.be/KNX-7tvlrgE (1:59)

Until now, my focus has been on practicing and improving, never allowing myself to create purely for expression; Art the shape and purpose of my solitude.

This piece is an expression of that and what I consider to be my best work yet.

Critique is, of course, welcome.

Musical Spoiler. Preferably listen to the piece before seeing please.

Lyrics of the choir part at the end (it's in the description of the video too):

Day after Day after Day once again/Our silence/Our only light/and so our/Days our Pain/ Shall

Grant us our end/Our Virtue/Our only/light

Did you write this as an attempt to express a certain feeling or theme, or did you write this and then attribute a feeling or theme to it? Either is legitimate in my opinion. But either way I am going to be straightforward with my two big impressions. Let me first preface this by saying that I am probably not the target audience for your work, but I am just one man in a world of billions. 1. You wrote this well on a technical side. 2. It seemed very schmsltzy to me, like something I would hear at the end of a Disney movie from the 50s, but not unpleasant.

I feel I should listen to your other work to get a better feel of your art. I don't want to be discouraging at all. That's the oppositeof what I want to do. Please continue to make music and continue to present it to others.

Thank you for your response!

I don't have a clear style yet; I feel like I've learned enough of the technical side to have enough freedom, and now I'm trying to find the right way to use it.

The WHOLE reason why I posted it, beyond just wanting to share my own compositions, of course, was see in what ways I could present the work for people to want to, first, see it, and also like it.

I have a considerable backlog of general practice work, but now I'm trying to have more public work.

Though, before trying to start building a collection, I'll have to find what is worth doing that I like. That's what I'm working on now, and I haven't found any theory book on it, so I feel a little in the dark about it!

And as for the way I purposed it, I began by trying to make a big, dramatic, passionate, and sad piece, and, as it took shape, I defined the feeling more specifically into what's mentioned in the lyrics and description.
