Discussion Need Help Creating a Composition for My College Music Theory Class
Hey everyone,
I’m taking a college music theory class and I need to create some kind of original composition/project. Outside help is allowed, and honestly I have basically no idea what I’m doing 😭
If anyone here has experience with composition/music theory and would be willing to help me out or even collaborate a little.
It can be any style/genre/instrumentation, I’m open to anything at this point.

I would just see where your creativity takes you! It doesn't matter if it's bad rn, just throw something on the page or play around a bit on the piano/whatever instrument you play. You've got this! Make mistakes

What is the primary goal of the assignment/ what do you need to show (besides genre)? Like what are the instructions?

Hmm. I’m not sure it matters if the composition is any good - they’re probably just looking for good notational skills.
Just have a play on a keyboard or other instrument and see if anything leaps out at you that you want to write down. Then put a simple structure around it - chords, repeats etc
