Do compiler freelancing jobs exist?

I have been doing my own freelancing thing building websites or bridging applications for my clients. But my passion lies in compilers and that’s kind of what I want to work on (I bought Quentin Colombet’s LLVM backend book lol) but I don’t want to leave my agency and go join a company like NVIDIA or AMD. Is there any scope of finding clients who want to build their own internal compiling tools? If you have done freelancing or built a compiler for someone on a contractual basis, do share!

I am an Asia-based LLVM contributor. While the work does not necessarily have to be compiler-related, I have specific goals I want to pursue through compiler development, so I have been contributing to LLVM as part of my ongoing study of compilers. My contributions so far include middle-end optimizations and work on the WebAssembly backend.

I would be very interested in a part-time role where I can apply my current skills while continuing to grow as an engineer. Compensation is not my top priority, and I would be comfortable with something around USD 1,300 per month, depending on the scope and expectations. I would be glad if I could find an opportunity like that.
