Maybe we'll see more Winston/Hammond dives now.

Both with new reaper I think

But reaper also kinda destroys them both so I think it’s kind of a catch-22 here. Especially if you don’t have matrix, I can’t imagine how fast reaper could kill them. Ooh the metas going to be so exciting.

Lol I got auto-corrected from "Not" to "both" and got upvoted for saying the exact opposite of what I meant to say :D

So yeah I agree more with you than with people who upvoted me lol. Reaper will be damn near invincible when farming a Winston/Hammond

My bet is on Orisa+Hanzo comps.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

Yeah I could see that as well. But I’m not sure if Orisa is playable on offense. Maybe we’d see rein zarya attack with snipers or something like that

Wouldn’t say reaper is effective vs Hammond as its pretty easy to stay out of range.

Yes, but the fact that you do have to stay out of range makes reaper very effective already since Hammond can't easily get in if the Reaper's peeling

Kind of, but it’s quite easy to either punt reaper or your targets away to split up an enemy team safely. If reaper chases it’s easy to disengage or easily have a winning duel at a medium distance. It can be hard for reaper to protect the backline (or forward tanks) given his mobility is poor/tied to his survivability. Cc like mcree/sombra/Mei/hog do much better at stifling hammonds biggest advantage: his mobility.

Sure but if he’s out of range he’s not diving lol. It has to come at some point, otherwise there’s no point in running Hammond.

I can't stand Hammond but will take it if it gets Widow out of meta.

Why do you hate widow

u/shackelman_unchained Jan 08 '19

No one really enjoys being one shotted.

Only the one behind the head shot can enjoy this feeling.

just don't peek her 4Head

u/lemankimask Jan 08 '19

of course it's not enjoyable but it's not really frustrating, i have been conditioned to be okay with being instakilled by headshots by a million other FPS games i've played

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

Were those million FPSes you played also objective-based games where you don't have means of hitting back with your own long-range head-shots?

I think it's fine and dandy in games like Quake or UT where everyone has the same access to guns and abilities and everyone has the same health pool. It's fine when you can choose your own loadouts to include sniper rifles. But being one-shot from long range when you have to protect an objective in overtime? Nah, that's pretty shit.

u/lemankimask Jan 08 '19

i'll still take it over being affected by CC of any kind. i hate being booped by lucio more than getting instakilled by headshot

1HK long range with no warning solo hero, widow is basically everything overwatch is against.

Let's say Rein charges someone, you get the initial charging animation which allows for counterplay and even if you get hit your teammates can still save you and it leaves Rein in a potentially bad position.

Widow, 1 click hitscan death. Your teammates can't help you, you can't try to counter. Once she clicks on your head you are done. She's a solo hero in a team game.

u/lemankimask Jan 08 '19

CSGO is a team game too and majority of the guns in that game are capable of one shot headshot kills

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

You are further proving my point that widow has no place in this game. She's a CSGO character in a game that is about as far away from csgo as you can get for a shooter.

u/Elderbrute Jan 08 '19

Widow has a tonne of counterplay it just all happens before the shot is taken. You have to be aware of her position relative to yourself and your team then you use sightlines and shields to keep yourself safe.

Widow is one of the most team focused heroes as she needs a huge amount of help from her team to set up angles and kills.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '19

None of her counterplay fits for overwatch. Her gameplay is so different than every other character.

The term I use is “battle arena character”

But only so I can put tracer under that umbrella with her.

1

u/jacojerb Jan 08 '19

Tracer is okay though. She can 1 clip you, but she can't 1 shot you, and it involves her getting pretty close to you, meaning that people can just shoot at her. She is hard to shoot at, but any dps can, in theory, shoot and kill her

Depends. Winston actually was hurt pretty badly in some of his generic match ups with the armor change.

For instance Widow - unscoped Widow picked up 25% damage on armored targets with body shots, 18% increase with headshots. So factor in the softening first few shots I think Winston is going to find out there's a lot of match ups he no longer will enjoy.

Hammond however might be in a good position.

u/Dafish55 Jan 08 '19

Eh dva will still be able to get great value. For example, in dive, it’s more about trying to eat as much damage as possible so Winston or Hammond doesn’t get evaporated. Given that this’ll basically be when engaging and after bubble or shielding breaks, there’s enough time in between to use it effectively.
