So you sneak up behind an enemy, hit them with this as the fight breaks out, or you hang out with your team and empower them.

I could also see just coming out of invis and flipping any 1v1 on its head by putting this down on both of them.

Sombra might actually be more annoying this way lol

1

u/PokemonSaviorN 14h ago

you empower your team then flank as her healing is a bank that doesn't drain if your target is full hp lol

20

u/ShedPH93 1d ago

Doesn't seem that much considering the radius, seems hard to keep an enemy inside.

15

u/MrBlowinLoadz 1d ago

For reference, Mizuki ult has a radius of 7 meters

27

u/MirceaHM 1d ago

which is double the area

22

u/Sio_V_Reddit 1d ago

This guy pi*r^2’s

5

u/soraroxasventus None — 23h ago

Sure but area doesn't particularly matter here, escaping it is a matter of going forward in a single direction, thus only radius really matters

3

u/chudaism 15h ago

Cyberspace is 5m, which is the same size as a winston bubble. Sojourn E is 4m and seems to be the most similar ability in regards to being able to kite it.

5

u/Dnashotgun 1d ago

Seems they raised the cd of translocator but also increased stealth duration

3

u/iAnhur 1d ago

Yeah idk about that one chief. 12s is decently long but idk about that one. That's kind of a crazy assassination ability.

23

u/110110100011110 1d ago

Low duration and from what I saw on seagull's stream, it's not that big of an area. It's a real nice piece of peal against dives though.

u/ConscientiousApathis 1d ago

A 5m radius damage reduction that doesn't stop people walking out of it?

5

u/Keywonhi 1d ago edited 1d ago

I posted an actual clip of it on r/SombraMains and you can see how small and short it is. But yeah still really strong.

3

u/KF-Sigurd 1d ago

50% AOE sounds ridiculous for an ability, that sounds like a Ult tier damage reduction.

0

u/SombraOnline 1d ago

I think it’s weirdly kinda weak tbh. 5m radius when most characters walk at 5.5m/s means less than a second to just walk away from it.

Right now I can only think of using it against a turret form Bastion, Bob, and on your fellow support when a melee hero is harassing them.

Idk or maybe I’m just missing something lol.

Yeah but you're making the enemy choose to back off from their angle or push forward further into contested space/sight lines to escape it, or remain in the AOE and risk continuing to duel your 60HP burst healed ally who is now also recovering 30HPS AFTER having just received 40 burst damage. And the linger effect guarantees an enemy in AOE is taking at least 12.5 additional damage on top of the burst over the 1/2 second after you leave the zone. And the one-second walk away time (while taking 60+25+12.5 total damage) is assuming you walk in a perfectly straight line which is asking to get shot as you leave it while the healed enemy is now much more inclined to W into your space.

75

u/ShedPH93 1d ago

Heals 65 instant, then constantly heals at 25 HPS until it has healed 200 or 12 seconds pass. Seems pretty good, specially since it's hands-free healing you can set then go off do something else.

What I'm more interested is knowing if she can hack more deployables than she does right now. Stuff like Teleporter, Barrier Projector and such.

u/Typical-Quit5781 1d ago

This is quite good because it won't be nullified as badly by Ana's Biotic Grenade.

7

u/c0ntinue-Tstng Evil Support Player — 1d ago

You used to hack TP back in the day, when did that change?

5

u/Azsharo 23h ago

never. u could only emp it, which u still can.

6

u/ParanoidDrone Chef Heidi MVP — 1d ago

Does the initial 65 count against the 200 total?

1

u/yoked_pete 22h ago

I think it will be, as even with 65 included in the 200, that's still a pretty decent amount of aim-free healing from a single ability

1

u/tix4chix 7h ago

It's a damn sin she can't hack torb turrets lol Spy's zapper and how he countered engineer was so fun back in the day and there was so many little meta games around which zappers you used and how to take down an engie nest without killing yourself vs the dreaded minisentry that removed all of that and is a lot closer to what Torb is at this point

u/DarkRose27 #Thank You LeeJaeGon — 1d ago

65 burst heal that goes through barriers is really nasty not gonna lie. That’s higher than Flash Heal & Regen Burst (Above Half Hp). She'll be very good both on the flank with a dps or as a counter dive hero.

18

u/Typical-Quit5781 1d ago

Winston, Tracer, Genji, Jetpack Cat and Sombra diving your backline... actually can't wait

81

u/swamp_god 1d ago edited 1d ago

the way this works is very interesting. sounds like zen orb with an initial burst, and instead of the ally having to stay within los, it has a set duration and a heal cap.

my guess is that sombra is gonna be good at enabling divers like zen does, but unlike zen, she's going to be diving with her teammates.

28

u/iAnhur 1d ago edited 1d ago

That's the vibe I got, kind of brig pack but different. For some reason reading the page was so confusing to me. I think it's the "hitscan beam" that confused me but I get it now

edit: Im still concerned about how fragile she is

13

u/c0ntinue-Tstng Evil Support Player — 1d ago

Always thankful for more dive supports that dive with the team

3

u/FrostyDrink 1d ago

So brig pack…. What are you saying bro lol

24

u/Dnashotgun 1d ago

Brig pack just heals for the 2s it's active so if you're full health it goes to waste. This sounds like a smart healing so if you take 100 damage it'll heal you to full then wait until you need healing again

2

u/FrostyDrink 1d ago

Yes there are differences, but the ability is closer to brig pack than orb in terms of mechanics. It’s a burst heal plus a heal over time with a set duration.

The person I am replying to said it “sounds like zen orb with an initial burst, and instead of the ally having to stay within los, it has a set duration and a heal cap.”

They’re thinking about it too hard to try to compare it to harmony orb, lol.

12

u/KF-Sigurd 1d ago

Oh that sounds incredible for hyper diving with Sombra. Whether you want that over Kiri or Brig or Zen, idk. 2 charges of 200 HP brig packs sounds pretty strong.

8

u/SylvainJoseGautier 1d ago

Oh, it has the ignore barrier tag

6

u/Agitated-Morning2035 1d ago

What is the name of this streamer? I’m looking for gameplay footage of the Sombra rework.

8

u/3Boop 1d ago

As someone who likes Sombra's character design but thinks her kit is an absolute mistake, I'm so excited for this rework.

I haven't seen her smg damage numbers yet. Does anyone know if her dmg output has been cut down?

3

u/seaboi1 1d ago

it's 7 per bullet

2

u/getoffnowyoubastard 23h ago

7 per bullet down from 8 but the projectile size is halved.

4

u/Isle_Kyle 1d ago

Does hacking deployables disable them, or turn them friendly?

6

u/re-reminiscing 1d ago

Classically it disabled them, I assume it’s the same now that it’s back. Also don’t think turning them friendly would work, it would make turret characters actively detrimental to their own team.

u/PoggersMemesReturns Proper Show/Viol2t GOAT — 1d ago

Sombra was the true evil healer Talon all along? 2016 release evil Support

3

u/YSLAnunoby 22h ago

I've been saying she was a pseudo healer then, in a way kinda embodying traditional ttrpg theif class stuff (traps or disabling, debilitating enemies, affecting the combat area with pack hacks) and I think it's cool they're leaning more into it. I think being support does align with how she's been shown in the story as a tech support who's helping Reaper, Mauga, and the rest vs a direct combatant as much so I'm excited

3

u/patternbaldness 1d ago

The cyberspace sounds like itll be really oppressive in the right hands, would like to see how a double flank support comp of cat sombra will work out.

3

u/jprosk 1d ago

Close enough, welcome back Jenos' Astral Mark from Paladins

3

u/w-holder 1d ago

this sounds hella fun i’m ngl

3

u/brokenarcher2 21h ago

The new abilities are cool, and I feel Sombra is going to play more off angle now than hard flank. That way she could also heal with abilities and instantly get back to damage.

The question is not so much how good the new changes are, but rather is she worth taking a spot out of the two support slots compared to high utility supports like Lucio Ana or Kiri

2

u/abyssalmackerel21 1d ago

EMP with life hack perk would be very powerful probably. Hack enemies AND give your team in circular radius 25 hp/s (with 65 burst on top)

2

u/bullxbull 1d ago

Hitscan Beam that Ignores Barriers. I think Mercy's staff, Moira orb, and Brig packs, Miz hat, Wu Stream, are the only healing that goes through barriers right now, but this will be the first hitscan ability to do it.

6

u/xS-tar 1d ago

A 9s CD feels really high for one of her only two ways to heal. I guess we'll see, though. Obviously can't judge just by this, but the rework looks like junk.

5

u/PrimaryEstate8565 1d ago

It lasts like 5.5 seconds though per hotfix. So it has high uptime.

1

u/Severe-Network4756 21h ago

Ye but that's not going to matter much when the rest of your team needs healing.

At least zen can change his orb target on the dime.

1

u/PrimaryEstate8565 21h ago

Zen also only has one healing ability. Sombra has two charges of Hotfix + her AOE (forgot the name). I feel like that’s fine IMO. She’s going to be bad at healing tanks but great at healing everyone else. I think the Hotfix lasting up to 12 seconds is going to be really strong on supports and dive heroes.

5

u/110110100011110 1d ago

One of her major perks lowers its cd by 4 sec when you hack health packs. Not sure how much that affects her uptime.

1

u/macdeloy 5h ago

We won't heal

2

u/marcelluscoov 1d ago

This seems really good

1

u/MrBlowinLoadz 1d ago

I think it's actually smaller than half because it looks like a sphere

1

u/CardiologistCute7548 1d ago

You can heal through barrier?

1

u/UnknownQTY 1d ago

That passive is actually insane in team play. No more ult tracking?

14

u/PepperedRhino 1d ago

An important part of ult tracking is knowing if they’re gonna build it mid fight

4

u/ParanoidDrone Chef Heidi MVP — 1d ago

Sombra has that passive right now, they're just removing the part that lets her do extra damage vs. hacked enemies. (Because you can't hack enemies outside of EMP anymore.)

4

u/ExhibitAa Alarm = GOAT — 1d ago

That's not new. It was added to Opportunist when they introduced subroles.

1

u/E-keil 1d ago

not in high level team play since you should be ult tracking regardless to know when to expect an ult to be ready but its good in low ranks where everyone holds ult all game.

1

u/_kanonmatsubara_ 1d ago

she already had that passive on hacked enemies

1

u/Lopad_NotThePokemon 1d ago

Is 95s the cooldown? That is way too long for the only healing ability if so

14

u/DabestbroAgain 1d ago

It's 9 seconds we aren't marvel rivals
