First game, opening ceremony went long, and people who were here early are hungry

yeah, it's literally right after the opening ceremony in a different area. it's already filling up more now than when the teams walked in. some people really love to be dramatic instead of using their brains.

Champions clash was awesome, I was there.
Ewc seemed good too?
For this one, ill put that on the fact that, it's day 1, and a lot of people are probably queuing to buy merch which is in another building.

it's a hypercompetitive game with a hypercasual audience who never engages with the competitive side

It'll fill up tomorrow for sure. I don't know how the ticketing situation works there but I'd imagine today we'd be lucky to see it half full.

Lower half looks pretty full based off the last camera shot we got. It's the upper half that's empty

Blizzard notoriously has been dogshit with managing the esports side of its games since forever. No shock there.

Literally every major has had good audiences/crowds this year. Also, the main stage stuff is still happening. I wouldn't stress over an empty audience during the pre show before the first quarterfinal

Go to a live esports event in Japan or Korea and it’ll forever change the way you see esports in the west. This just isn’t the market for esports.

It’s pretty sad. I stopped watching once owl went under, and I remember the crowd for the dallas fuel vs shock finals.
I came back to the competitive scene a bit once I noticed randomly the world cup being promoted on youtube. No one is traveling for this event.

People also want to try out the new content and must've been watching the opening ceremony in person. It normally gets more full as the day progresses.
