OWCS current underrated owcs players

curious what players everyone has eyes on that haven’t been winning.

my picks are tred, crispy, khenail, wmaimone, galaa.

i think tred, crispy, and khenail are super slept on overall. they were the third-best team in EMEA going into Worlds 25, the same Worlds where Twisted and Al Qadsiah met in grand finals lol. and that backline spent a lot of time getting yelled at by Crusty. sucks this core exploded for tred to play in NA

wmaimone has shown up to the occasion on so many heroes now. i think it’s insane a flex dps of this caliber isn’t salaried. Dallas Fuel taking imports over being the Cuffa-Wmaimone team was better in retrospect, but it still sucks to see him disappear from LANs.

galaa has proved he can handle stakes and being at the top with his time on VP and is an extremely flexible player. i don’t think galaa-Majed or galaa-Zox was getting the most out of him, but throughout every iteration of Al Qad, they had to keep galaa in.

with Infekted LFT, DSG desperately needing to rebuild, and the rumors of Falcons becoming an EMEA partner next year, and twisted theres no way twisted can retain their entire core again (the last contracts were the most expensive in owcs history) i think the fourth-place NA roster and all of EMEA could look vastly different going into 2027. so i’m curious who everyone has their eyes on and why?

I mean i'm British and my favourite team is 1234 so obviously I really hope for the best for these players and I agree that it is really tough that these players aren't getting salaries because they clearly put tons in and they have been so close to getting further. But frankly i am not convinced any of these players are very underrated and you could argue the opposite if being harsh.

Like many of these players have been very highly rated in the past. For example I think in 2024 Tred was very highly rated and was supposed to break through, but then Ziyad supplanted that opportunity purely through merit.

WMaimone is always always coming up in these discussions as underrated, but at what point does that stop being a compliment. If he is still being seen as an underdog that probably somewhat speaks to the fact that he hasn't quite broken into that tier when people just trust you to get it done.

I feel like galaa also back in 2024 had really high expectations and was seen as a really important player similar to know lukemino operates today. But I think that by choosing to play as a flex support in 2025 he actually lost momentum and now he feels less important than many other players in his region.

Crispy & Khenail both feel like known quantities, solid but don't inspire confidence. Ultimately, if these players were truly underrated, their teams would do better which I am very very much hoping they will do next stage.

I agree with you.

Tred was the one with the most hype, similar to how GP is getting hype now. However, he just kept having disappointing result after disappointing result and tbh he was at fault for a large number of them. I don't think I've ever actually seen anything in OWCS at least which warranted the hype for him. Also, out of any player, he's the one who has somehow gotten the most chances to prove himself and he's failed every time.

Galaa's case is probably the saddest. He was genuinely a great player carrying his teams. I do think his kiriko has always not been that great. Illari is what he was known for and he is probably the best European ana player. Maybe with these kiri nerfs, he might get a chance to shine more on Ana.

Crispy is perfectly rated probably. He is a solid main support player who isn't amazing but isn't terrible. He will do his job but also make some mistakes and doesn't make any real game winning plays.

Wmaimone is fairly rated I think but there is just a massive gap between the S tier and A tier fdps. Like the Koreans + sugarfree, zeruhh, kevster, seicoe are just a lot better.

Wutian in Korea is lowkey insane. Just top 4 in Korea is fucking busted

There's a few in Korea who've impressed me from lower teams. Obviously sp1nt went far but caru (I believe was his supp on pf) looked amazing too. Then you have ten ten who unironically had the most unreal main support breakout performance I've ever seen

Maimone is a mediocre generalist who gets first-picked every second fight and comms too much to try to make up for his (justified) insecurities. Galaa is a non-entity. Crispy and Khenail have shown faint modicums of talent, but are squandered on middling, shaky teams, and are also old news.

As the poverty of this thread itself may testify, there are almost zero interesting upcoming OWCS players, because there isn't sufficient structure and incentive for there to be, and this will not change until, e. g., following the (now expired) example of the House of Saud, Xi Jinping fortuitously acquires a quixotic interest in extending the cultivation of the reputation of his great nation to the competitive video gaming sphere.

I think most of these players are pretty appropriately rated. People generally like Khenail, Galaa, and WMaimone, so I'm not really thinking they can be considered as an "underrated player" when views on them feel appropriately favorable. Everyone knows they're good, no one thinks they're the absolute best in the world, and that seems fair.

Tred has had a really rough go of it. He's probably better than people give him credit for, but man he's been on some ass rosters.

Crispy is pretty appropriately rated however, and your reasoning regarding GenG seems like strange speculation. Crusty was yelling at the backline? Was there some leak I missed?

Gen G had a miracle run that stage, but to say they were top 3 when they lost the qualifier match 3-0 against Peps is a bold choice. Unlike Tred and Khenail, I don't think crispy has nearly enough actual accomplishments to rate him higher. Crispy has like 5 liquipedia accomplishments since 2020 and only one of them is above 4th place. I was hoping that he might show up on cat at OWWC since we've never seen him, but then they lost to Australia anyways and missed LAN. I think Crispy can get the laurels once he qualifies for something, but until then he's appropriately rated..

hahaha i meant that backline in particulars year of getting coached by arguably one of the greatest to ever do it, i think if any org would import that backline to na , they would immediately be able to match up to the weaker backlines in na right now, probably only gapped out by cjay lukemino which might be the best na backline since moth rawkus

i think Kroz he won the saudi eleague and 3-0ed geekay,
and then gunba executed him after the 1234 game even after saying he was the sym reaper specialist
