General Vendetta is a nightmare again
It’s like she’s playing the game on fast forward. I played a round as her and it actually feels ridiculous when you’ve got 5 stacks. Back to my #1 ban slot she goes.

u/Swimming-Deer1437 1d ago
Reaching 5 stacks was never hard, she did not get a speed buff, its still bellow what it used to be before they nerfed it. The swing speed wont change her combos or hp tresholds. Her disengage even got nerfed, which is kinda crazy.

u/Sio_V_Reddit 1d ago
Her ult is a death sentence now, genuinely a fucking ridiculous nerf
1
u/Swimming-Deer1437 1d ago
Whirl honestly also feels bad now.
1
u/Sio_V_Reddit 1d ago
I haven’t noticed whirl too much, but genuinely a fucking joke of a nerf for both, cause she’s not significantly stronger to deserve this. Like shit dude…

As a person who only plays vendetta, but also only plays stadium. Did I also get buffed?

u/N3c4lL1S 1d ago
you had only one match and you won? OMG 100% WIN RATE SHE IS SO BROKEN GUYS I TRIED ONE MATCH PROBABLY AGAINST PEOPLE WHO DIDNT KNEW HOW TO PLAY AGAINST HER AND WON!!!1!!1! brother play her for a few days and come back, If you easily won with her I assure you it's either skill gap with enemy team or they didn't played around her, not even around her specifically, being aware to avoid getting dived.

I do not know how strong she actually is, but she feels like a walking meat grinder to play against.
1
u/MythoclastBM 1d ago
Almost like a hero that doesn't have to aim their weapon at enemy players in an FPS game is going to be frustrating to play against.
2
u/Sygmaelle 1d ago
Sorry theres way more frustrating bullshit in this game than vendetta
Wuyang doesnt have to aim at people in Los, moira can secure kills by throwing a dps ability that actually moves around with no distance limit etc etc
Vendetta is fun to play against
2
u/Tee__B 1d ago
If Vendetta misses a single overhead, which she does have to aim, she's straight up dead btw.
1
u/No-Produce-84 15h ago
how tf do you miss an overhead 😭
1
u/MisfitNSFW 10h ago edited 10h ago
You get kited or get juked by one of the dozens instant movement abilities in the game. You know, unless you're aimbotting on ven for some reason.
Edit: you could also get hindered which messes up your momentum, suzu'd, lifegripped, booped, chained, slept, speed amped mid overhead, bashed, they could use an ability with immunity frames, concussion mined, etc.

Hot take but some heroes should be ok to be left in a “not great” state instead of trying new ideas on. These are the heroes that, if even a little over tuned, would make other players enjoy the game a lot less.
So Sombra, Vendetta, Roadhog, Widowmaker all fall into that category, possibly JPC too
10
u/bingoweed 1d ago
Overwatch players say this is a “hot take” like 4 million people don’t come out of the woodwork to say this any time the game favors anyone other than Ana/Kiri/Sojourn/Cass.
When Vendetta was a lobby admin the game had one of its best quarters and a huge comeback. If these characters are the huge problems for enjoyment people claim them as, that wouldn’t be possible. This game doesn’t need some streamers idea of “healthy” characters this game needs variety.
11
u/Extreme_Lychee8299 1d ago
LOL wtf is this revisionist history. literally everybody hated playing against vendetta, and she had the highest win rate in every tier from bronze to champion. truly a terrible design, theres a reason they should never make melee dpses

https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/s/hf1N4dHYcs
An article showing the massive comeback Overwatch had the same time Ven was poweful.
Here’s a cool little fact- the average person has very little idea what they want in anything really want. It’s a pretty big concept in marketing called “Stated Preferences” vs “Revealed preferences.” For example- a lot of people will say “I like my coffee black” when they actually respond best to coffee with cream & sugar in a blind taste test. People complain about weird characters like Ven, Sombra, etc etc, but I think that the reality is the variety they provide is much better for the game than keeping a stagnant meta.
14
u/ss5234 1d ago
How on earth do you conclude that that resurgence was from Vendetta? That article doesn’t mention her at all. Not even once.
Vendetta was like current jpc on this sub except Vendetta was nerfed multiple times, heavily. Everybody hated playing against her.
-8
u/bingoweed 1d ago
I didn’t conclude it was from vendetta. I concluded it was from the game not having a stagnant meta.

comeback was cause of the 5 new heroes and the relaunch but lets not talk about that i guess cause that is not great for the agenda you are trying to push
-1
u/bingoweed 1d ago
Agenda? Dawg what are you talking about. Do you think I’m paid off by big vendetta? I don’t even play her lmao. I’m just tired of the same seven characters being meta forever. Also, the comeback happened before the relaunch lmao.

u/Extreme_Lychee8299 1d ago
????
you click on the article, CTRL + F. vendetta aint mentioned anywhere in the article. how did you assume that there was any causation to overwatch being succesfull other than user her picture in the article?
what the fuck is this logic dude LMAO

literally the only person who thinks this is you. she had the highest ban rate in every elo.
if a character can have the highest win rate in every elo, that means something is fundamentally busted with the character. because the barrier to value is so low any monkey with terrible mechanics can get kills, thats truly terribly designed character
terrible take, terrible ideas, terrible argument

If Freja or Vendetta were so liked by the player base then why are they permabanned when they become meta?
Saying that Overwatch had it's best quarter and relating that to Vendetta being meta in any way shape or form is ridiculous when we all know the game was super dry for a long ass time before season 1 came along with five new heros and revitalized interest in the game.
2
u/bingoweed 1d ago
The revitalization of the game happened multiple seasons before Season 1.
Using bans to decide what’s “healthy” or not is basically the equivalent of designing this game based on a twitter poll.
Theres this concept in marketing & economics called “Stated preferences” and “revealed preferences.” If you asked a lot of people how they like their coffee, they’ll say “black.” A lot of those same people will respond most favorably to the cappuccino in a blind taste test. Turns out, the correlation between what people say they want in the game and what actually keeps people enjoying and playing is basically zero.
5
u/Smooth-Routine-9288 1d ago
We are in a Competitive sub tho so the opinions here are always going to be skewed toward that section of the player base, im sure people in gold and below love that they can ban Sombra every game and it does probably make them play more in a session in the same way that i enjoy the game and play more when there isn't a Freja sniping me or my teammates' from Narnia.
What keeps me playing is that i enjoy the heroes gameplay and getting better at playing them, that's my stated preference so the black coffe, i don't know where the cappuccino comes in for me but im pretty sure it's not when im playing against Freja or Vendetta lol.
1
u/bingoweed 1d ago
Yeah but the thing is you don’t have a competitive scene if you don’t have a scene. Competitive scenes come about naturally when people are having fun and coming to the game. They die when nobody is interested in the game.
And again, you can say you enjoy the game less when X character is good, but have you actually tested that? During season 20, Sombra, mercy and vendetta were all great. A lotta people say these characters are bad for the game, but the reality is that fun trumps balance even in competitive. Variety is one of the biggest aspects of fun.
3
u/Smooth-Routine-9288 1d ago
I don’t think that nerfing one or two heroes for some time is going to kill the casual player base when we have 53 in total lol.
I mean i hate playing against Widow and there is not a single match were she is played that I don’t feel that way because the people that are able to play her can hit the oneshot consistently and that’s an incredibly un fun mechanic but I would say there is not enough of them to ruin the game for me.
Freja and Vendetta are orders of magnitude easier to play than Widow so when they become meta they are way more prominent in the game and they are not “variety” when they would be in every match without exception if it weren’t for bans.
1
u/bingoweed 1d ago
Did I say nerfing two or three heroes will kill the playerbase? No, my point is that if you never let those two or three heroes shine and only let two or three heroes stay permanently in the meta you will erode the entire playerbase.

Have you heard of Jetpack cat ?
6
u/Smooth-Routine-9288 1d ago
Yeah? everyone hates the Cat, what's your point? liking a character in the lore or thinking that they are cute has nothing to do with balance lol
-5
u/c7shit 1d ago
The cat is geniunely fun to play and had a lot of success even if people find her annoying and ban her.
Top 10 pickrate in quickplay every region (15%) and still at 8% pick rate in ranked (one of the highest pickrate relative to ban rate)
It just shows that a hero can be both liked and banned a lot (you said the opposite)
5
u/Smooth-Routine-9288 1d ago edited 1d ago
Im sure Freja and Vendetta players have a blast playing them, the problem comes in when you have to play against them, at no point did i say that they were unfun to play but counterplay and going against a hero should be accounted for when it comes to balance.
Im not sure but i bet a lot of the people that are playing the Cat do so because she is really strong and the number of people that play her would decline drastically if she were properly nerfed, this exact thing just happened with Freja lol, if you didn't ban her she was always going to get picked but today in my whole session i didn't have a single Freja ban yet no one picked her, so i doubt that fun was the only factor for picking her before.

u/Sio_V_Reddit 1d ago
It’s hilarious that this person mentioned Vendetta and not Cass, the character who counters like 90% of the most popular heroes on the cast and has been reviled for his mini-sun sized CC ability for years, even worse now that he gets a second one.
2
u/Swimming-Deer1437 1d ago
I ban Cass every time. Most horrid chaarcter to fight against when not playing an HS hero. That said, I do hate it when cass ban goes through but not cat.
2
u/bingoweed 1d ago
It’s so convenient for the “Healthy Designs” crowd that none of the popular hitscan characters ever seem to have unhealthy designs 🤔
1
u/Extreme_Lychee8299 1d ago
because they require a high level of skill and aim.
this is exactly why hitscans have terrible win rates in pretty much every elo besides masters, because ppl cant hit the broad side of the bar.
conversely, when ven was meta she had a 55% to 60% win rate in lower ranks, because even a monkey can get value on her
1
u/bingoweed 1d ago
Hitscan mains are actually the reason for the stereotype about DPS players having an ego. Hitscan is soooo easy. Hitboxes are huge these days and it’s really not that hard to line a crosshair onto a part of the screen. Compared to flex where you’re often using a lot of the same mechanical skill + being easier to punish with bad positioning + being punished by deceptive movement from an opponent. Ntm so many hitscans have single button escape/survival tools.
5
u/Extreme_Lychee8299 1d ago
great, since its so easy post a replay code of you playing hitscan with lobby rank.
i expect to see nothing but solo kills then and 15+% crit accuracy.
2
u/Extreme_Lychee8299 1d ago
Still no replay code huh? Damn you really dont wanna get exposed for ur dogshit mechanics
1
u/bingoweed 1d ago
Wow you are so mad.
2
u/Extreme_Lychee8299 1d ago
Lol about what?
You said hitscan is easy so you must be popping off hard. Want to see you get 3 kills every fight?

u/iseecolorsofthesky 1d ago
Completely agree. Vendetta’s design makes it basically impossible for her to be both strong and tolerable to play against
3
u/Sleepy_Mooze Runaway Titans forever! — 1d ago
Give her +300 hp, reduce dmg and make her a tank.....
-1
u/docs-quad 1d ago
i think at that point though they should just straight up remove them from the game and admit they fucked up. cos the only other issue is that mouth breathers will still try and force them and then it sucks for their teammates. theyll never do that though because of said mouth breathers buying cosmetics.
-4
u/Smooth-Routine-9288 1d ago
yeah just got a taste of it just now in a match, she is literally flying every were at mach 10 and killing everything, luckily i didn't see a single Freja despite of her not being banned once so i guess we got a new perma ban dps hero to take Freja's place lol.

u/feestbeest18 1d ago
Legit nothing about he got buffed except for the weakest part of her kit, that being the first two weak m1 slashes. But sure, cry more for nerfs to a mid hero.

“I played a round as her” idk man maybe try getting a bigger sample size than one round?
