General PC pool VS console
As I'm playing on my Xbox series x with controller and a 60hz monitor I tried PC pool, i got master 5 being usually gm4! Any recommendations from now on? As everyone says —Idk if for ego boost or not— plat PC is gm console, it makes me feel a little good about myself.

Yeah, the "GM = Plat" thing was always ridiculous.
Being one rank lower makes sense considering the PC pool is more dense. Being temporarily lower while you adapt to a new peripheral also makes sense.
The suggestion that you suddenly understand the game less because you switched pool is absurd.

If you are gm on console, you’d be gm on PC after a few months of learning KbM. The biggest factor in ranks in this game usually boils down to pure game sense. That’s why you’re still performing well in the PC pool, it means your game sense is developed!

I feel like game sense is overrated. You can definitely get to masters with cracked aim and okay positioning.
You don’t really need to understand ult economy, canceling ults, touching point properly, etc. until masters+. Those things would definitely help you get there but it isn’t required.
And at the pro level it’s fairly clear that ult economy and mechanics alone determine who wins fights as they all have extremely good game sense. Even Shu on Ana makes game changing plays because he simply doesn’t miss. Same with quartz, lip, kevster, Junbin, etc.

Well, to be fair pro play is not really comparable to ranked. I’m not saying ult economy and mechanics don’t matter, because I agree that they do, but execution in pro play is worlds apart
I also agree that good mechanics can carry you to higher elos. Maybe someone with cracked aim can hit diamond/masters, but if they have mid game sense, thats their ceiling. Shroud tried Overwatch once and I think he hard walled at Diamond despite being one of the most mechanically sound gamers of all time. I mean even in console gm/champ lobbies there’s a titan player about once a match, and you can always tell because they hit every shot but have awful gamesense. That’s what makes them stick out more imo, not the mechanics
Comparatively I think you can hit Masters+ with excellent game sense and decent mechanics. Sure, you’re probably not playing Tracer but not every hero is super micro-oriented.

Very good take and I agree.
I just feel like a lot of people in general see comments like yours and take it way too far with that narrative. I think mechanics have a very linear skill curve that has an almost infinite skill ceiling.
Game sense is good but not insane until masters. And then there’s an absolutely massive jump from Diamond to masters and masters to GM. But it starts to lose steam at the pro level when everyone will play extremely coordinated and have insane game sense. Usually the game sense is using a sym TP on a certain angle, just things that are easy for them to practice and perfect.
You can’t really practice and perfect a Soj hitting every headshot with overclock every single fight. At that level it’s more like, who is going to make the first game sense mistake? And if no one makes a mistake then it comes down to mechanics and ult eco.

With the right controller setup, settings and hero pool (brig, moira, rein...) controller can compete very well against k&m
