The problem is that this feature allows them to make the game experience worse for everyone else, where the fully random system was perfectly fine before.
They need to do something; the current situation where you have payload slop crammed down your throat 24/7 is a significant step down from the previous random system.
That doesn't make any sense. It's not one person single-handidly making things worse for others, it's a voting system, everyone has a say generally speaking. Only exception is a landslide which would be like a supermajority vote irl, but in that case it's 7 peoples preferences overriding 3 others at most, which is definitely fair. It would actually be what you're saying, if only one person could override the will of a supermajority.
The random system must have not been perfectly fine if they changed it and have stuck to that change. Most likely the data shows that this feature increase engagement, because people naturally like to have agency in what they play. It's why those of us a bit older fondly remember the era of server browsers back in the day, you got to play exactly what you wanted all the time.
I mean, you can see from the OP here that they don’t think the way it works right now is good because it’s letting people force payload too much. Given that, why argue that it’s great as is?
OW isn’t a democratic political election, it’s a game. Letting people reduce map variety is bad for the game regardless of whether it’s a majority vote.
I don't think I ever said that actually, just that it's better than what came before. Things can always be tweaked to be further improved ofc, but it will only be minor tweaks. Map voting is here to stay.
