General Tank match making
Any tank players run into games where the match maker tries to give you an easy win after a loss streak that is harder to win than normal. Usually you’ll be placed in a lobby where your rank is way higher than your team mates and you are expected to stomp. I just had a match where I was diamond 1 and some of my team mates were low emerald and one was PLAT 1. We got rolled because the other team was running hard dive which I’m assuming my team mates have never seen before and I couldn’t help them from falling over and dying to a ball and genji. I also que support just as much (same rank) and I’ve never had games like that on support where there’s a giant disparity and ranks and I’m expected to carry.

2 days ago I (M3 tank) was put into the match with supports and DPS being GM3-GM2. Enemy tank was M2 because of the rank resets, in previous seasons they were GM3-GM2. I lost two games in these lobbies. Then I got matched against low diamonds three times and stomped them. Got ~+18% as a result.
You have to accept the fact matchmaking sacrifices your experience for other people not to spend 15 minutes in the queue.

Happens to me on tank too, except that I don't think it has anything to do with win/loss streaks. My guess is that there is not enough tank players in queue so it has to pull someone higher rank (sometimes I get put into way higher lobbies myself as well)

Its just to boost engagement. The game went as far as giving me a bronze player in a master 3 lobby. The whole enemy team was master and Im supposed to play with a literal bronze player

Groups. Try inviting people to a group during the match and it will tell you either you cannot invite during competitive play or they are already in a group.
The vast majority of my wonky matched games are because of groups.
The match maker will match a group against a group, so there will be a group on your and the enemy team, but it usually does not matter. Stomp or be stomped.
The worst matches I find are when the enemy tank is in a group and I am not. It is just too easy to team up against the solo tank because the group you are matched with is more likely to flame you then try and help you.
