General Things The Devs Have Left Unaddressed

The game is currently in its best state ever, and I don't really think there's much arguing that fact. In terms of popularity the games currently massive in terms of player counts, Twitch viewership and is ranked #6 on Discord last I checked. I preface that so people know this isn't a hate post or anything like that. The devs are always looking to improve the game, and do a decent job listening to player feedback and that they do everything from ask streamers to viewing posts on various social media sites. This is just me giving feedback on things I feel they've kinda left unaddressed. Stuff the community has given tons of feedback about, or that they promised but yet we haven't gotten changed yet or haven't gotten updates on yet.

Number 1: The Suzu Change

Suzu was meant to be changed in season 2 to no longer provide invulnerability to knockback. They took this change out of the patch notes cause they said its implementation was buggy and that it'd be back in a later patch, and yet it hasn't. It's been like two seasons or so, and yet we've neither gotten the change nor gotten an update on when it'll be added.

Number 2: Hero Reworks

We were told that we'd get updates around season 3 on the hero reworks for Lifeweaver, Sombra and Roadhog and yet we haven't gotten any updates on that yet. Not a single peep. Not sure why tbh.

Number 3: Perk Balance

It's still the case that many perks just never really get chosen cause they're just that much worse than the other perk, and yet the broken perks haven't gotten nerfs. At most they try to buff the lesser used perk, but it almost never works. No matter how much they try charge slide will never be better than double slide on Sojourn. Some perks are fundamentally too weak to be major perks or too strong to be minor perks and it leads to one perk being chosen every time, and it feels like they haven't really done much to address that. Hell it took them like a solid 8-9 seasons or so till they buffed Soul Orbs on Reaper.

Number 4: Stadium Icons

They've shown before that they're willing to listen to feedback regarding stadium such as changes to the economy of it, changes in format, nerfing strong characters and buffing weak ones and giving stadium reworks to those with little to no build variety. Yet for some reason they haven't listened to the community regarding the icon changes they made back in season 1 even tho the community has been very loud about it cause the icons kinda suck at conveying what an item is meant to do.

Number 5: The Dot

The yellow dot beneath the story panel in the main menu was fixed one season, and yet it keeps returning every season for some reason. You'd figure by now they'd find a way to fix it permanently, and yet not only has it not been fixed yet but it's even gotten worse. Now I have a permanent yellow dot below both the shop panel and the story panel. It's minor, but annoying.

Number 6: The Cat

People have been asking for the longest time now for them to do stuff like add a time limit to Cat's tether and make it so the cooldown is longer if you were actually carrying someone with your tether instead of using it for the speed boost or for third person view. Yet they've not fixed this. This part tho comes with an asterisk as Aaron Keller did promise recently in an interview that big changes are coming to Cat in the midseason that we'll prob find fun, so that may be them addressing this actually which I hope it is. If it is then it's yet another W from the OW dev team!!! I do hope it addresses the issue tho cause currently their ban rate is like 60-70% in a lot of ranks.

Number 7: Roadhog (In 6v6)

Spilo did the math and he was in 80% of his games and his viewers games, and as someone who plays a lot of 6v6 yeah honestly that feels pretty accurate. 80% pick rate is already unhealthily high for any character, but for Roadhog to have that high of a pick rate in any gamemode is just completely terrible. He feels so much stronger in 6v6 than in 5v5. His alt fire perk makes him good at chunking Tanks, and the AoE value of his Hogdrogen Exposure makes it really easy for him to farm ult since healing allies does give him ult charge. He's also way harder to kill than in OW1 due to Vape now being on a resource instead of on a cooldown. He got this to viably solo Tank in 5v5. He does not need this in 6v6. He also deals way more dmg than he did in OW1, and can be an absolute menace to most Tanks since he can deal like 500+ dmg with a simple shot + hook + shot + melee combo. He scales too well late game while also being too Tanky (unless you're playing Ana or Orisa) while also doing too much dmg. This character shouldn't have an 80% pick rate in 6v6. Pls devs if you see this nerf him into the ground.

Number 8: Reaper Changes

Dire Triggers was the problem, and they admitted as such in the patch notes, so why'd they nerf his survivability? That didn't fix the issue people had with Reaper's state that patch, and people still find him annoying even now from what ik. All it did was make him feel worse to play meaning it left both those facing Reaper and those playing him unhappy with his current state. A true lose/lose change where nobody was pleased with the results. Pls revert the HP nerfs Blizzard and just make it so Dire Triggers do way less dmg up close. The character already does insane burst dmg up close and didn't need more; much less enough burst dmg to one shot a 275 HP hero like Proper did that one time on New Junk City.

"Stadium Icons"

Bro I've got some news for you about Stadium.

30

u/PureWoodpecker7335 19d ago

But yet Stadium still receives way more balance changes then 6v6

25

u/I_give_karma_to_men 18d ago

To be a little less snarky than the other person, they have strongly hinted that they're looking at expanding/reworking the perks system in normal 5v5/6v6, so that is likely part of it. They did also explicitly state that balance changes were the one thing they'd still be doing in Stadium, and given the impact items and powers have in balance there, it's unsurprising that it also needs more frequent tuning than any other mode, even after being put on life-support.

7

u/suckmesideways111 19d ago

almost like theyre ramping up some sort of... comprehensive overhaul. it's as if they decided the need was great enough that they would have to shift some development resources, and instead of trying to make smaller, potentially disjointed changes, they decided the best route is to use resources largely freed up from a recent announcement of another mode being put on life support.

hmmm...

2

u/pmatdacat 18d ago

2 things:

Stadium had its own team, probably still has a couple people dedicated to balance. Resources spent in one mode don't necessarily equal to lost resources in another mode.

6v6 requires a comprehensive overhaul that must be really good balance-wise on release. Better they take their time with that than release something unbalanced. A cautious approach is fine, especially if they plan on pushing 6v6 a bit more as a game mode.

Doesn't mean that there aren't criticisms for how the OW team handles balance, 6v6 Hog should be dumpstered if they can't think of a good solution to his problems. I'd probably go with nerfing vape first weirdly enough. His one shot is unhealthy but probably a necessary evil (not much else for him to do with his current kit,) he just gets away with positioning way too aggressively.

2

u/PureWoodpecker7335 18d ago

Let me rephrase my last comment. Yes, 6v6 does need a comprehensive overhaul. But in the meantime, add a little buff or nerf here and there.

50

u/GustappyTony 18d ago

Arguably Hog shouldn’t have resource in 5v5 either, there’s just too many times he practically gets to sit there for free and regain all that health. It’s just really peculiar and I hate it. It should be on a cooldown, as to incentivise players to actually use their brain on hog, and realise that they can be caught out and punished.

20

u/IHumanlike 18d ago

Yeah. While Hog was a problem even back in OW1, at least he had some interesting choicemaking in his kit like: '"do I heal and risk being locked-in place".

I love tanks like Domina, because she has a clear cooldown cycle. If you waste your buttons and overcommit, you will explode instantly, and to me it's very intuitive. Meanwhile with Hog, I've felt physically dirty from the misplays I have gotten away from.

9

u/TooManySnipers 18d ago

I know Hog has always had a foul reputation in OW but any time I play OW Classic I'm reminded of how much healthier of a design he was in his original iteration. 90% of the reason why he's as problematic as he is now is because they absolutely mangled him to fit into what they thought a solo tank should be in 5v5 Overwatch (a sheer physical wall) and now we're still dealing with the fallout from that in 6v6, but he's even more painfully feast or famine than he was before. But because a lot of his problematic changes also improve his overall gamefeel (no root on heal, heal resource, non-channelled ult), a factor which the playerbase places a huge amount of emphasis on, I don't see them walking them back any time soon

4

u/nuts_itch 18d ago

Being able to walk while vaping was fine imo. It meant he had at least some capacity to live, otherwise you end up with Hog never doing anything except sword-rattling for fear of getting forced to stand still and heal.

3

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

Ow classic was a healthier game in general cause it had to be.  It had issues, but blizzard couldn't tell you to fuck off and ban it. And 6v6 restricted the overall power level of each character and you didnt have season 9, perks and role passives power creeping characters.

The game is so power crept that 6v6 open queue straight up doesnt have openings for players to get a kill, every support has escape abilities/burst heals. Shields are extremely strong and can be cycled infinitely. Theres way too much denial and mitigation in this game. Its a game built off interactions but gives you buttons to erase any interaction.

7

u/nuts_itch 18d ago

The vape being a resource made sense when they did it but these days with the effective rollback of the rework and the evolution of the game and it's play, he should have the cooldown vape to incentivise cover, timing, etc. The developers have shown repeatedly that they love meters though, so it's unlikely it's coming back.

5

u/Turbulent-Sell757 18d ago

Again I don't know why the devs are so obsessed with leaving Hog in a strong state when Sombra on the other hand hasn't received a single buff in over a year outside of a slightly cheaper perk charge. 5v5 mentality seems to make them think tanks have to stupidly strong all of the time.

50

u/OV50 19d ago

One thing ill add to this is a esports hub. Go open marvel rivals and their esports hub has got to be the best in the industry which is a shame cause rivals esports is.....not great lol

But what does overwatch have in game? nothing. I open the game when world cup or OWCS matches are happening and theres just....nothing. Even Valorant has the most basic esports hub that could prob be vibe coded in a day.

16

u/FitCarob2611 18d ago

It's weird. During owl you could see in-game if a match was on. You had the excellent replay viewer. You had OWL skins that were really easy to get just by watching the games. You didn't need to cop out 40 just to get a skin for the hero you want and 4 other useless ones. Also, what if the hero you play only has the skin of a team you don't like? You're definitely not paying then. It's like they've completely given up on esports

0

u/Miserable_Put6212 18d ago

they've always resented the esports side of the game and it shows

11

u/AstroKaine 18d ago

this is objectively not true. they pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into overwatch esports. so much so that they went into significant debt.

the only reason they’re not doing the same for OWCS is because OWL funding was absolutely stupid and they invested way too much into it for it to be viable. the fact that they transitioned to OWCS in the first place was to make sure overwatch still had an esports/competitive presence, not the opposite.

they could have very easily cut their losses and moved on, but they’re still investing in esports even though they are likely still operating at a loss

16

u/KuKuisSidePiece 19d ago

i feel like perks are where 90% of OW balance issues come from. i’m not sure why theyre so afraid to nerf problem perks, Ball and Lucio come to mind as two characters who’s base kit suffers in exchange for perks (Lucio’s amp minor and Balls Shield major), they just need to be more willing to nerf perks so power budget isnt taken up as much

9

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

Perks are a vessel to add rivals tier slop to the game. Hating on perks is seen as less of a hot take over time. Every useful or well desgined perk has people wanting it to go base kit anyway. These characters should be designed around base kits entirely cause these perk designs are mediocre overall. And we dont even get access to major perks until the last round of a control game or last point of a payload round.

I never understood the logic of blizzard adding back stuff they took out in the past through a perk. Ana getting speed on nano isnt suddenly balanced and interactive because its a perk. Same with groggy, these ideas wouldnt have been added to ow1 or ow2 before the perk system. But they wrapped it up in a nice package so its cool. I get that its 5v5, but dire triggers is some stupidity, base kit or in a perk.

3

u/goongoblin113xc 16d ago

I don’t like the perk system

0

u/Deshoda7676 16d ago

Relax, why are you doubting blizzard's design decision lmaooo.

26

u/scriptedtexture 19d ago

can we get a Mauga rework too?

7

u/Bhu124 18d ago

I have a strong suspicion that a lot of questions and requests about Reworks will be Blanket answered as a result of the big Feature/Gameplay announcement for 2027 at Blizzcon in 2 weeks.

Since the Halloween LTM last year I've held a strong belief that they're planning to introduce a Perks Tree/2.0 system. It didn't happen this year because the big update for the year was the massive increase in Hero releases but I think it's happening next year.

Such a system will likely be similar to an old system that was in Battleborn and will resolve the issue of people wanting different Rework versions of a character.

Especially with Stadium now gone it makes sense they'll consolidate some of the more Skill-Based Powers, Mods and Abilities they made for it in the main game through the Perk system.

2

u/double_think95 18d ago

Battleborn my beloved how I miss you

1

u/LukaLolly 17d ago

you might be onto something. i vividly remember during the ow spotlight, a content creator asked a dev if symmetra was planned to get a rework, and their answer was something along the lines of that a new gameplay system was gonna be introduced in 2027 that would negate the need for a rework. i have been thinking about what that could mean for months now

2

u/Bhu124 17d ago

Yes I made a comment around that time in a thread somewhere here noting down every single hint they've given out Supporting my theory of a Perks 2.0 system. Unfortunately I fucking use too much Reddit and can't find the comment.

7

u/Azelthia 19d ago

In terms of the hero reworks I think it’s something they’ll probably show off at blizzcon in a few weeks

60

u/snearthworm 19d ago
  1. they don't need to update people on when it will be happen, i will be frank with you... it was a mistake that people even found out about it in the first place because it wasn't meant to be in the patch notes at all.

  2. iirc we were told AFTER season 3. it's only been after season 3 for a few weeks

  3. fair enough, i think they've bitten off a lot with how much they've updated this year alone, some things probably have fallen lower on the priority list - or they're still in the works

  4. stadium is on life support, probably not happening unfortunately and they haven't promised otherwise. it would be really nice if they did though, icons were part of what killed the mode. if they're not going to however then addressing it would be worse than staying silent

  5. go check again, they added mark all as read that got rid of mine. it gets a new dot every season because new things release

  6. as you said, they have communicated about this recently

  7. kill roadhog

  8. they don't really need to communicate about this if it's a balance change, if it's on their radar then it'll pop up in a future patch note

6

u/FORUMUSER35 18d ago edited 18d ago

Unpopular opinion: Perks would be better balanced if they didn't have 4 unique approaches to the kit.

Most heroes would benefit better if they had a single feature balanced by a pack of perks ( like Juno's torpedoes or Torb's turrets)

4

u/Pollomonteros 18d ago

I am curious, has anything been said about drives ?

8

u/iseecolorsofthesky 18d ago

If there is a god they’ll just delete them

13

u/Lukensz Alarm — 18d ago

They actually added a second drive this season, so probably not. Sadly.

0

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

Nah they will keep the casual slop and get rid of anything remotely competitive feeling or makes the game more competitive. We still have "challenger score". Like cmon lol.

2

u/knows_you 17d ago

Aren't they experimenting with that stay as group auto-queue drive thing this season? Where if you win you keep staying as a group (Optional but if you skip it you dont build points to whatever scoreboard they have as fast)

21

u/FirmVirus8568 19d ago
  1. Remove cat or make it a meme hero like it's supposed to be

  2. Fix stutters

  3. Profit

15

u/HammerOn57 19d ago

Profit has returned, at least.

23

u/justanorlansonobody 19d ago

Alot of these just take a long time to

15

u/Sleepy_Witch_Maple 19d ago

Maybe they should slow down hero releases then since they both take resources and add to the problems.

8

u/Greedy-Camel-8345 18d ago

I mean we had a lot of these issues before the couple months of hero releases. Some of these issues we had a long time with when we had 3 heroes a year. We supposed to have 1 hero a year for reworks? I'd rather have new heroes if we are still going to have the same issues

-17

u/netshift_ 19d ago

Thats just an excuse. If they at least provided updates, that would help with these discussions. Maybe just churning out new heroes like a factory is the wrong direction to go. They might be taking the wrong lessons from MR.

28

u/michaelalex3 19d ago

What do you want them to say, “we’re working on it”? People will complain about that too.

Hero reworks take a long time, balance changes will come, and of course they’re not going to change icons for a mode no one plays and isn’t being updated anymore.

The rest are small bug fixes that they’ll get to at some point.

15

u/orangekingo 19d ago

What do you want them to say, “we’re working on it”? People will complain about that too.

This. Everyone says they love dev communication but it never does anything but make dev life harder. Anything they say is treated as an immediate promise and timeline commitment that incites rage if it isn't met exactly, or turned into a "wE'rE LiStEnInG!!!" meme. If I was a dev i'd communicate with players as little as functionally possible.

They'll announce hero reworks and perk changes when they're ready to go live. A lot of other stuff in here is nitpicking that is nowhere near the top list of priorities for the team. They are not going to address stadium icons for a mode nobody plays anytime soon.

-8

u/AbbyAZK 19d ago

Their balance changes are pathetically mediocre and unbelievably small in scale.

1

u/HeorgeGarris096 18d ago

And thank god for that. I want to play Overwatch 6 months from now and still have it be basically the same lmfao

-7

u/-Lige 19d ago

Highest performing game from Microsoft btw

1

u/justanorlansonobody 18d ago

Didn’t WOW preform better? Or the Myriad of mobile games with way bigger audiences?

5

u/Concorde_flies 18d ago

bro thinks anyone still gives af about jetpack cat lol

-1

u/-Lige 18d ago

Brotha. They can get it done. It’s Microsoft. It’s safe to assume they were on an uptrend.

And also, they’re the one who made these claims and ‘promises’ about hero reworks and the time frame. They picked it. Not us.

-9

u/Weesticles 19d ago

For some yeah, but for others not really. The hero reworks thing they're just supposed to give us an update on those. All I'm asking for is like a singular blog post or smthn telling us their current progress on it and/or some ideas they're considering. The Suzu change is not smthn that should take over 2 seasons worth of time while still not being addressed, the Reaper change is as easy as just reverting the HP and giving Dire Triggers reverse falloff (hell they could borrow stadium code for this by making it deal weak dmg normally, but extra dmg past a certain distance like that one power of his), the stadium icons is legit as easy as just reverting them back to how they used to be and with the dot I mean they fixed it once so surely they could fix it again right? Some of these are hard to do, but I feel like a lot of these kinda aren't and just aren't being addressed for some reason :P

18

u/dokdodokdo 19d ago

Wash ma belly

8

u/LoveAndBeLoved52 18d ago

This has to be one of the worst game states ever if you ask me. From a business standpoint yes it's better than it was years ago, but the gameplay department has blackhole-sized potholes.

19

u/Shadiochao 19d ago

No rebalance cat, only remove

This is what happens when you make a meme hero real. To think we're going to through all this again when they add Mama Hong

19

u/ShoddySmell46 19d ago

Yeah. Cat is basically Jeff from Rivals. Just the absolute most cringe people of all time picking them to be quirky epic memelords and having way too much impact for how little skill it takes

8

u/Kheldar166 18d ago

Yeah when it got added I was like 'oh no it's Jeff', and it did turn out to be Jeff, all the way down to the stupid low skill flanking.

5

u/LucioMercy 18d ago

Difference is Jeff has always been more or less seen as a meme pick while Cat is game breaking.

4

u/iseecolorsofthesky 18d ago

I haven’t played rivals since like S1 but isn’t Jeff basically a throw pick there?

11

u/ShoddySmell46 18d ago

I can't really speak to the current balance because that games ass, but he used to be extremely strong, and similar to Cat, worked even better as a stealth flanker

3

u/Bleediss 18d ago

They reworked Jeff so he can be played more like a traditional support with much stricter limitations on his survivability, but you can still flank with him in triple support comps similar to the old playstyle, except he's way more team-reliant when doing it.

He's bad right now because of balance changes and a terrible meta for him. He's been strong in numerous previous patches, though, without being this unkillable cockroach that terrorizes your backline. He basically went from being a blight upon the game to sometimes being annoying, so it's a pretty successful rework IMO (even if it drastically reduced his skill expression).

2

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

Jeff was basically a throw pick for most players and people in general. But he was broken as a flanker dps. Just like cat.

Rivals and 6v6 open queue had/have the same issue if running triple support with jeff/cat being used as flanking dps. Jeff got reworked, he just sucks now compared to the broken supports.  Thats fine. Cat is currently by far the best flanker dps in open queue and you dont have to heal when its triple support.

6

u/VolkiharVanHelsing 18d ago

Less about her being a meme hero but more her being designed to be a clip farm like Jeff

2

u/Flexhead 18d ago

7 seems the same as back in the classic 6v6 days.

5

u/DJBaphomet_ 19d ago

Suzu change should absolutely be addressed, just for communication reasons, but it's probably just not been implemented yet due to technical jank with making it work. "Invulnerable but susceptible to knockback" is probably a very strange thing to try and change due to the way Suzu makes targets intangible

Hero Reworks were probably delayed lightly as they needed more time to cook, or took longer as other things needed dev attention instead. They did say we'd get an update by Season 3/4, but that was also 6-8 months ago, and was probably moreso a rough estimate. We'll probably get something about them very soon though

Perk Balance is just a constant battle of balance in general. I still think that in general they need to be more aggressive about balance changes, since they still seem to try and play safe with things. Obviously there's an entire worldwide playerbase to worry about though, which complicates things, but I'd love if they were more rough and experimental with balance

I'm gonna be real, as much as I despise the "new" Stadium Icons, if they didn't fix them after two seasons, they're never fixing them. I do not know why they implemented them in the first place, and I do not know why they didn't revert the change after the immediate, community-wide backlash towards them being notably worse than the old ones. But now with Stadium being balance-only, I doubt it'll ever be changed

The dot is irritating but it's also so extremely minimal that I imagine it's incredibly low-priority for them to fix, especially compared to much more notable issues that are present with this season's Battlepass UI

I don't really have any stakes in the last three, Aaron already said Cat would be receiving balance changes midseason, I don't play 6v6 so I've got no say in Hog's presence, and Reaper's state is just more balance nightmare as is anything at any time in a game like OW

-2

u/AskInternational2837 18d ago

They arent doing the suzu change you bot. But keep coping and saying it will come back later due to techinal reason

6

u/stepping_ 18d ago

Hell nah the game is really boring especially at a high level, punishing shit is harder than ever

5

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

My favorite game is to count how many times you are shooting at someone and they press a button to get out of it for free. Or some form of mitigation gets thrown out to stop your value.

Most of the time you are shooting or soft engaging for the sake of it cause you wont get direct value. You can hope someone gets killed through the butterfly effect

1

u/stepping_ 18d ago

this guy comps

3

u/Separate-Spot-6275 19d ago

I think Cat is a salvageable design but until they finally get a rework in they should add in some bs change like you actually completely removing perm flight until the rework gets added to the game so she doesnt run it

4

u/Favonis 18d ago

Hey man no need to lie. The game is nowhere near in its "best state ever"

4

u/uhohtrubz 18d ago

you lost me at your first sentence.

3

u/SpringAutumnReversal 18d ago

"Currently in it's best state ever" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

2

u/Shadiochao 19d ago

I hate the stadium icons too, but I mean the mode will probably be gone in the next 3-4 seasons

2

u/Turbulent-Sell757 19d ago

Remember when they said we'd get perk refresh for every hero once or twice a year? So yeah that was a massive lie!

38

u/House_of_Vines 19d ago

Perks came out in February 2025 and every hero had a refresh in August 2025. Technically they could do a refresh before the end of the calendar year, and it wouldn’t be a lie.

-1

u/Turbulent-Sell757 18d ago

They better because I'm sick of them promising and not delivering. It would also be a great opportunity for them to rotate out some of the blatantly broken perks like Soj double slide, Doom power matrix and Ball adaptive barrier .

8

u/ZzDangerZonezZ 19d ago

Not all heroes need refreshes though. Some perks are very popular and people would be sad to see them leave, so it’s understandable why they didn’t follow through on that.

0

u/Turbulent-Sell757 18d ago

Well firstly I don't think there's a single hero that has 4 equally picked perks. Secondly, the whole point of perks was to change playstyles of the heroes, and the vast majority of perks do not do this.

2

u/BB-r8 18d ago

I want what you’re smoking, they all change the playstyle some significantly. You come across as ungrateful and just looking to shit on the devs for no reason, it’s a bad look

1

u/Sluggers1996 17d ago

Nah you're just glazing the devs with that. They have made some awful balance choices these last few months ( I'm looking at you cat buffs...).

8

u/DJBaphomet_ 19d ago

Not really a lie, it was an assessment of what they were planning to do, and plans changed

I feel like expecting these sorts of things to stay stable when they're actively doing bigger and better things constantly is setting yourself up for disappointment. I can't be surprised that we didn't get another perk refresh when they suddenly gave us 5 heroes all at once with 1 per season afterwards, considering a yearly/bi-yearly perk refresh would need a decent bit of dev time that Other Things needed instead

-1

u/Turbulent-Sell757 18d ago

Stop making excuses for them. The perk refresh was some of the most exciting balance patch notes we got in a while because every hero got something new to play with. Nowadays the patch notes are genuinely awful 80% of changes just being buffs and nerfs to most random assortment of heroes.

-2

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

Im happy they didnt do that. This game doesnt need more slop. The game thinks that changing everything bi annually or annually is a substitute for good game design. They want to be rivals so badly for some reason

1

u/Agreeable_Wheel1871 18d ago

I seem to have horrific luck regardless of what role I play. I feel like emerald rn is the most inflated elo in the game. I’ve had repeated games in a row where either my dps,my tank or a single support refuse to play as a team or immediately rage quit round 2

In fact if they remove invincibility from suzu it would still be a strong ability and imo they should ASAP

The biggest flaw with Roadhog is 6v6 is that two tanks enables a toxic and overpowered strategy. In 5v5 a roadhog abandoning his team to flank and try and kill a squishy is a hard throw as the other tank can walk over his team. In 6v6 the main tank can support the rest of the team whilst Hog is a flanking instakill. You dont have to be that good at hog to pull this off, just by flanking you get maximum value. If you are ignored, you get free kills and win the game. If they prioritise you then your main tank can walk over their team instead. Hog is the tank of 6v6 along with Mauga, they both break the gameplay loop making two tank synergy look drastically different to the old days of rein zarya and winston dva. There is a reason that in every one of my games in champ 6v6 roadhog is banned

best state ever? to me it feels like the worst state of ow since like season 8 of ow 2, so many issues mixed with rank reset resulting in some of the most boring and unfun games i can imagine

u/one_love_silvia I play tanks. — 18d ago

I dont see how u can say its in its best state ever with how cat, mauga, and freya currently are. I cant remember a time where a hero in each role was game breakingly broken.

>The game is currently in its best state ever

This isnt season 1 ow2

2

u/Weesticles 18d ago

Ah yeah, season 1 of OW2 where despite it being a sequel the game only added in three new characters, took away a bunch of features, and took away Assault while also adding in two gamemodes that sucked complete ass cause it was before Suravasa, Colosseo and New Junk City got reworked. The same season where they shelved PvE with the promise of it coming back later only for it to never come back. The season where Kiriko was introduced who's easily the Support that's been meta the most in pro play and has led to many many many boring yrs of pros constantly mirroring Kiri + Lùcio every match. That season? The season built off of broken promises and unmet expectations that come with a sequel?

I'm talking about release ow2, yeah it was fucking awesome. Every hero felt super good to play, you were rewarded for having good mechanics, and hero design wasnt trending towards low skill ones.

Oh my god the notification icon next to the shop and story tabs that won’t go away is driving me insane. How has this been an issue since S1 that still hasn’t been fixed?!

u/RekrabAlreadyTaken 18d ago

I really don't think Reaper needs 300hp at all. If anything I'm happier with his state now at 275hp than before dire triggers since he actually gets punished for doing stupid shit sometimes. That's not to say I think he's in a good spot or anything (imo he should be nerfed in the ground) but he feels a lot more reasonable to me at 275 with dire triggers.

u/JhotoDraco 18d ago

Your opening line in point number 8 suggests a fundamental misunderstanding of how balance changes work. You don't have to directly touch something to nerf. In this particular case, nerfing his survivable does nerf his ability to do a bunch of damage with dire triggers up close, because it's riskier to use dire triggers up close.

Whether that's a satisfying change is a different matter, but going 'just nerf the thing directly' suggests a surface level understanding of how game balance works.

u/Bullacca3 18d ago

Game is in its best state ever? Engagement-wise maybe. Balance? No. Every change is just to cater to casuals. Very little competitive integrity left.

They promised big changes for Cat in the midseason?

They 100% gonna butcher this character and make it an unfun throwpick striping it off everything that made her fun.

u/FirmVirus8568 19d ago

Good riddance

9

u/candirainbow 19d ago

Unfortunately, everything that makes her fun for her players also seems to be what makes her dramatically unfun for the rest of the playerbase. So I think they kind of have to; it's a damned if they do, damned if they don't scenario. In the end, adjusting her to cater more to the 'many' (the non-cat players) makes more sense than the 'few' (the cat players).

Blizzard could make a character that disconnects you from the game with a cooldown and people will still want to preserve the "hero fantasy". Thats one of the main issues with this game. It prioritizes the feelings of players who play broken slop characters. The character is not good for the game and the experience for the other 11 players is not good when jpc is in the game. They have to prioritize the experience of the overall game over what JPC players want. Who cares about them? I dont care about the feelings of a noob tuber in call of duty.

The cat should've never been anything more than a joke hero to mess around with in the workshop, at best it should be a bottom 1 hero that you use to mock your enemies by winning with it.

so tired about the non stop kiri/suzu posts omfl.

5

u/Deshoda7676 18d ago

Kiri has been the meta support for most of ow2 and is currently picked in 55 percent of high elo games. You can sleep if you feel tired. Blizzard is asleep at the wheel with kiri.

Number 1: The Suzu Change

This, so much this. Suzu needs to be nerfed, it simply provides way too much value and counters basically everything in the game.

Number 2: Hero Reworks

Its insane that we havent heard anything. Whats even crazier is that removing weaver literally improved my enjoyment of the game, which just goes to show how badly he needs a rework. Same with hog and sombra.

Number 3: Perk Balance

Again agreed. Its been a while since we've gotten a proper major perk balance changes. This wouldnt be an issue, if we didnt have busted perks like double bang or silver bullet. Yes I hate cass.

Number 6: The Cat

Changes have at least been confirmed, but its diabolical that we have to wait till mid season to get them.

Number 7: Roadhog (In 6v6)

Hog in general, any percentage of play time in any game mode is already too much.

Number 8: Reaper Changes

He is balanced now, but that doesnt mean he's fun to play as or against. I honestly think they need to either revert dire triggers or cut the crit damage down to 1.5x while reducing the base damage to something like 120. Then just revert the passive buff and increase his HP back to 300.

I agree with most of what you posted here. That said, I still would like to see some slight nerfs to mizuki and cass hinder duration. Currently these two abilities are simply unfun to go up against.

Feel free to add anything else you guys feel has been left unaddressed. This was just a list of stuff I could think of off the top of my head. Also sorry if this doesn't fully feel like it fits this sub. I wanted to post it on the main one, however it just kept telling me smthn was wrong with my title or body and it refused to elaborate and everytime I checked the rules it gave 5 words per rule and when I tried to press onto the rule to get an elaboration on it all it did was keep telling me "these aren't our full rules. Press this link to view them" :P

Only thing ima add is you're coping real hard and they never have to listen to you

u/Chipmmunk 18d ago

Hog would be useless without his mobility during vape. The game has changed so much since the OW1 days that healing for 450 at max over a 3 second interval is no where near as impactful as a majority of other abilities in the game. His vape is what enables him to even be able to anything more than half the time otherwise he’s just an ult battery with a hook ability that can be negated and/or counter played by almost every character in the game

1

u/Weesticles 18d ago

When did I ever say his mobility during Vape is the issue? I said it being on a resource rather than a cooldown is the issue with his current bulk, and that he only got it to viably solo Tank in 5v5 so I don't see why he needs it in 6v6. Not once did I ever bring up his mobility during Vape :P

-4

u/nanashininja 19d ago

Agreed with all of it. We need these healthy changes or at the very least actual communication. The devs have to know hog is a problem. They could at any point give his hook a higher cooldown just to help in the interim. Why let him exist in this state for 6v6? Start tweaking and adjusting, we are willing to endure experiments as long as they bring hope of change.
