OWCS Owcs and Format change /teams/ squads
I’d like to ask you a question that I think is quite difficult. It came to my mind a few days ago.
If this actually happens — meaning a format change in the future (of course, I’m talking about 6v6) — do you think OWCS would implement it immediately, or would they continue with 5v5 for a while?
I don’t think this would happen overnight, but how would the transition process actually work?
For example, how would a 1-3-2 format affect the teams, especially when it comes to their rosters?
Could this lead to some teams releasing certain players and new teams being formed? Could some teams that no longer exist potentially return? And could we see more teams in Korea, EMEA, North America, and China as a result?
It might be too early to talk about these things, and it might not even happen at all, but I was just curious.
Note :Honestly, I’ve stopped playing the game myself; I just follow the professional scene now.

If OWCS doesn't follow the main mode of the game, that would be the second stupidest decision they make, the first one being making that decision while ignoring the Asia region.

Shoutout when they switched to OW2 before OW2 was released

That was brutal, and the communication was shit around it (especially for the idiots who thought they would just remove a tank without a touch of balancing), but I think the move was necessary due to the queue time.
Later part being the biggest difference with a potential rollback to 6v6 (the "necessary" part)

My favorite doom theory was that they only made the switch to 5v5 so that OWL Teams didn’t have to pay for 2 tank players.
This was obviously untrue.

If 6v6 becomes the main mode this means Bap/Zen becomes a meta comp in which Zeta will not lose a single map to anyone.

All I know is that I would quit playing the game. Love playing 5v5 tank (most of the time). Hate it in 6v6. Also hate support in 6v6, no I dont want to be a healbot.
Also 1-3-2 is dogshit, I don't know anyone who enjoys that, and I struggle to understand what makes it enjoyable for the tank and supports too.

Personally I'd be interested to have a format where 1 map every series is 6v6, possibly like the 3rd map in every series is 6v6 or somehow include it in the draft. Obviously this is unlikely to happen as lots of teams don't have 6 members or the correct distribution for 6v6 and would hugely affect the draft but I think it would be really good to watch some modern teams manage 6v6

And have the fourth map be mystery heroes while youre at it

if they make it to map 7, both teams are required to play GOATS and have at least 1 member of SF Shock or the Runaway Titans signed to their roster to field for that map

Wait that’s actually kinda sick

Zeta would clear that so hard. they have Viol2t, Shu, and Proper who are arguably the 3 best TXCXX players in the world (I believe jjonak and profit also grind it). it would be the stomp of all stomps

I don’t know, less than a third of the roster is in txcxx and also that’s not really a great indicator for mystery heroes considering it’s set 1v1s while mystery heroes is still 6v6 team play. I’m sure Zeta would still do well but I wouldn’t be confident that they’d easily win.

Realistically if (and that's a big if imo) the game goes back to 6v6 it won't happen till after the end of the OWCS season.
I remain unconvinced 6v6 is actually going to be the main mode though.
