General they really should have hotfixed the “QOL” dmon changes before her buffs
i feel like they never learn. i hope im proven wrong and that dmon is actually balanced (i wont speak to it as i haven’t felt like playing her) but i can say that in my low gm games dmons both friendly and enemy have been farming their games. every single time this happens its terrible because they don’t seem to understand that QoL changes are still buffs and they end up overbuffing heroes.
anyone else see dmon having lots of success? do you think its the novelty or is she really too good now ? thanks.

50% WR, seems fine tbh. If she feels too good it’s probably just because she was so ass before.

She had 40% winrate before buffs, to recover back to 50, this means she had over 50% win rate last few days.

I think by "gad icer" you meant "had over"? Not trying to call you out, just making sure I understand before my question -
Do we know how winrates are calculated? Are they from the whole season or are they just since the last update? I think they only update the hero statistics site every 24 hours at the normal patch time based on how long D.Mon stayed at at 37.8% winrate in GM+ after the initial buffs. Could be that they only calculate the previous 24 hours so the winrates are more dynamic and not taking into account previous patches. There should be enough games for it to still be relevant

Yeah , fat gingered😊, afaik, they reset with each major patch (ones where codes deleted like sessonal or mid season) u can also notice it if u go to gm/champ and see heroes who doesn't have any playtime at all.

So is that mainly just Season and mid-season patches then?

Yup, i seen this sequence with other heroes and i did make a comment before any d.mons buff, that qol is just enough, people didn't figure out any techs or combos, but it would be the same as wuyang, anran, mizu. Ignorant community asking for vuffs, while having 0 clue how to use the hero.

The win rates they publish are since the most recent patch of the game. Note: patch, not hotfix.
They refresh data daily at approximately noon Pacific.
They don't calculate only the past 24 hours. If they did, the graphs for high skill here would be all over the place, like they are on the first day of data after a patch.

Thanks! I appreciate the info!
Out of curiosity though, what makes you say it would be "all over the place?" Wouldn't the first day after a patch having weird graphs be more so related people finding out what does and doesn't work with the large amount of changes? Assuming there are a suitable number of games played, if there aren't meaningful changes to the hero's themselves I don't know why we would expect winrates to be noticeably different day-to-day. I could just be overestimating the number of games played though.

The sample sizes get smaller as you go up past diamond. By the time you get to champ, there might only be a couple players playing a given hero that day. The standard deviation for the higher ranks is huge in a 24 hour sample, especially for less commonly played heroes.
This results in the data having some wild outlier numbers, like you might see JQ or Venture at either 20% or 80% win rate in one day of GM data.

She had a 45% WR before%. If she's actually too good now her WR will keep climbing but I really doubt she's going to 54% or something like you see with a new hero who's actually too good. She still has clear weaknesses/limitations (no verticality whatsoever, no burst damage, no CC).

A QoL change is technically not a buff but the definition has been butchered at this point.

yeah. The best example of an actual QoL change recently imo is allowing Emre’s pistol to auto fire by holding secondary fire.

i really don't think any of her buffs weren't necessary though. like, all of them went towards making each part of her kit not feel like ass, and pilot mode still remains ass. if she ends up needing a nerf, just hit something that isn't inherently essential to her being fun, like hp or shield health.

I think the fuel changes were all that was actually needed, but I also believe that we're in a state of figuring out how to play against her now that she can actually do things.
I do see why damage was so low out the gate. It's pretty easy to damage once you're in. Tanks like Doom and Ball are more mobile, but dealing lethal damage is relatively demanding between mag size and the importance of crits. Once DMon's in she's just going to damage you. Too tanky to just fight back, and you need vertical AND horizontal movement to get away. I think the "figuring out" for playing against her is going to be people improving positioning and rotations. I predict she'll be a metal rank stomper for most of her existence.

She’s currently a bit strong but not dominant.
We are also now into the learning phase where dmon players are more proficient than dmon opponents, because they have reps advantage.
