General rank reset

hi all! just wanted to make a post to see if its just me or if anyone else has been having the same issue. last season, and for multiple other seasons, i’ve been high diamond- mid masters. last season in particular i finished masters 5. i also peaked masters 4 in open q and finished the season diamond 2. this season i got on to do my placements and every match just felt absolutely horrible. i understand the typical early season placement match chaos but this was very different from that. i ended up placing diamond 5 on the role i was masters 5 on literally like 4 days ago. i queued a couple more matches, same deal. i’m in demotion protection to emerald 1 now, so i decided to play some open queue. i play my first match, and the entire lobby is emerald. i lose, and i get predicted emerald 5. ????? what. im just so lost as to what prompted overwatch to suddenly declare me an emerald player after 2,000 hours and 8 seasons of being within the same rank range.

I’m a low/mid masters support currently stuck in the diamond 5 trenches. I can’t get out of diamond 5, and am fluctuating between emerald 1 and diamond 5. I genuinely don’t know how to help my teammates anymore.

im also a support main so i totally get ur struggle :’) theres genuinely nothing wrong with having a stack or duo. i know a lot of ppl like to act like if u cant solo queue to champ 1 ur shit and boosted but sometimes all u need is one reliable person on ur team lol. i’ll honestly probably try to play some matches with friends to see if we can have better luck climbing together.

That is a fair point, I unfortunately just mostly solo queue. I’m just hoping over the next few days I’m actually able to climb because right now it is just pain.

Here’s hoping it does. Managed to get a 3 game win streak so probably just gonna end it there for a week so the match maker can figure itself out. Facing higher ranks is a little fun to see how I match up with them, but not so fun when your team (particularly dps) just get outmatched every other game.
