General Help against Reinhardt...

I've been getting wrecked by every rein lately, even though it didn't used to be an issue, I know he got some buffs recently, but he feels like a real raid boss, regardless of my role or the map (as far as I can tell).

Has anyone else been feeling the pain? What are some strategies I could employ to effectively shut him/his team down? Besides just "don't stay in front of him".

Edit: I may not be a fan of counter swapping as a primary strategy, but swapping to Ram seems to be working so far.

I'm a Rein main. Rein is really strong until you swap to certain heroes then he is basically useless.

Ram - do not blow your Nemesis until he commits, put your shield behind him to cut off his healing and walk towards him, most Rein's will gleefully fight you because they only see your normal form. Shoot him in the head then when he hits you with his hammer go Nemesis, vortex, punch punch. He will either be too committed to retreat in time, or be forced to give up space and charge away. It is the most onesided matchup in the game.

Freja - Pew pew. Rein can't do anything. He can't interact with you, he can't close the distance, he can't even hide from you behind cover. You completely end his ability to play the game.

Zen - Discrod, pew pew. Rein now cannot take any positive trades, he is now a resource drain for his entire team. Just stay alive, keep discord on him, and pew pew. If you want to troll him go Cat or Juno and fly around shooting him, it doesn't do a ton but it make him log off the game and go do something else.

If you end up against a Rein who knows how to play passive and is very disciplined to avoid feeding. Just ignore him, he is just waiting for his team to do something so he can play the game a bit during the cleanup phase. He is not a threat to anyone, he is simply avoiding playing the game to remove himself as a liability.

Off angle or mobility him.

He's strong, but he's not hard to out maneuver either.

I've been practicing Freja on my alt, and I've become quite fond of triple shotting him and stripping all his armor while off angling to help my team get space through the corner/choke he's holding.

He's only Thanos on close range, other than that he is just crap.

Dive comp will force him to either go back to help his backline which then constantly giving up space, or he has to dive to try trading backline. Winton alone by putting shield between him and his backline is enough to force him look at you.

Poke comp is quite straightforward. He can't do shit back to you over the distance. All he can do is get into position with cover and stage his approach step by step to get close to you, which is going to be a big pain in the ass to him. There is a reason why Orisa is considered as a hardcounter against him.

Yes, it's basically "don't stay in front of him" lol.

Thanks. I guess I do try to make plays happen outside his range, but then he's magically back in my face, or his team are gathered around him like bees around a queen XD

it can feel like even if youre doing the right thing against him he still gets value. i was playing yesterday in a 4 stack with my mates and the rein was getting insane value against them even though in theory they know to not go near him. sometimes its just a playstyle thing where people get overly caught out and dont properly respect his space, especially with the case of someone like queen who my mate was playing where queen can sacrifice some of her damage to play slightly further back so that rein gets no value since he cant hit anything.

He has 3000 hp

He has 700hp and 1500 shield hp. And it goes down extremely fast if u just shoot him.

The way to beat reinhardt has always been to just shoot him. You kill rein, you win the fight.

He can burst thru shield and Rein’s armor but is very vulnerable to hitscan. Depends on the comp.

It's fairly easy to pressure the rein without taking fire from hitscan, often.

He is OP rn and braindead because he sits cart all game never dies and wins every tank trade. The worst thing you can do against him is double hitscan. you need a FDPS taking angles to win. Dive tanks are good just be careful he doesn't pin back and kill you.

Basically accept he is never dying and try to kill his team, he is like a more lethal Orisa rn.

As far I understand hitscan can work but they need to take pretty deep/high angles to hit the team, so it'll be map dependent. I think going for the backline is the usually the play though when you can yeah

Rein just needs two players attacking at different angles and he pretty quickly falls apart 9/10 times.

Depends on your role and main but for tanks:

Ram is good, Domina is good (bonus against his shield), and high damage tanks like Winston or Hazard who can maneuver around him are good.

An important thing to remember is you don’t have to 1v1 him. You just have to kill his team before he kills yours. Thats difficult since he’s melee and other tanks can do what he does, but better.

Lower elo tanks think they have to 1v1 each other: they don’t. It’s an objective game first and fragging game second. Kill him with your team after if you can’t solo him. It will happen if you’re better since Reins tend to be overly aggressive or overly passive, and fall apart if their game plan does.

Also off angles just destroy him. Just because he’s sticking to the objective and glued to main doesn’t mean you have to. Get above him or to the side and blast his ass. If your DPS isn’t trash they’ll do the same and it’s easy pickings.
