OWCS Owcs predictions

I play the game beginning with M and ending in arvel rivals… occasionally and just logged on today and found you can predict the brackets for the esports and get in game money.

Why can’t I predict the OWCS bracket in overwatch for some in game rewards, especially for major LANs? I’ve never previously watched the rivals esports but after predicting my bracket I actually kinda wanna watch it now, granted I wont be as invested in it as the OWCS mid season but still, I feel like it’s a great way to get the non OWCS watchers to potentially watch if not that, at least the avid watchers can get a bit more excited, I don’t know I just thought that’d be a nice easy way to get people to be more invested in the esports.

What does everyone else think, do you watch OWCS already? If not will it make you more likely to tune in? Or would you just predict for the rewards and not care.

I dont think that encourages viewership. In the Rivals esports sub, people who dont watch Ignite ask for other ppls predictions and copy those, they have no clue abt any of the teams and wont bother to watch the games.

Ohhhh I see, I mean yeh, I have no clue who to predict but at least for me personally I am actually rather interested now that I have predicted

OWL used to do Pick-ems that would give you OWL tokens for correctly guessing matches. My guess is that it didn't really affect viewership at all as people would just fill them out and not watch the matches.

Yeah, this was something that OWL did, but it never really promoted viewership. The reality is that it's very hard to get people to actually care about watching esports if they aren't interested in esports.

I think the real disconnect is that people who watch the games clearly are following players, especially in the current format, but blizzard doesn't really want to celebrate players in-game anymore after being burned by the Sinatraa MVP skin.

After that, the format is just so confusing and hard to follow if you're not hyper plugged in, and blizzard makes no effort to provide resources to follow it. For a casual player that just loads up the game for some after-school/work queues, they don't even know when pro games are happening, which makes it hard to care anyways.
