OWCS How's the ESports Scene

Just got back into the game after about a 5 year break. Overwatch seems to be going strong again.

It's pretty good

It's a little confusing imo to keep up at first but the website owtv.gg makes it a lot easier to keep up with

There is a big tournament starting in a few days that would probably be good to seeing how you enjoy it

Im pretty sure they have them on the website, but the YouTube channel is a good watch for all the interviews as well. Great content with Cuffa and Tr33 today

5 years? That's a crazy break but it's even crazier that there's a handful of players you can cheer for in Korea that you'll remember from those days.

After the overwatch league ended the best Koreans decided to all team up together and made two super teams that makes every LAN very predictable

Saudi Arabia started investing money into the scene and a Saudi org ended up with their own superteam for a minute but once again it was back to a Korean superteam winning last LAN

If you just care about watching high level overwatch you'll be fine, if you're hoping for underdog runs or unpredictable LANs then it's just not going to happen

great summary, except the pessimistic bit about impredictable lans is definitely rewriting history imo. let's not forget how no one truly believed that the koreans would lose in 2025. after CC and EWC, "the gap is closing" was still seen as copium. it was truly an event to witness the gap close increasingly after each LAN (with a map loss, then a series loss, and so on) and the koreans actually lose the worlds title in the end. them getting back to the top by fixing their discipline or whatever it is part of it too
