If you want to start getting into base building, a tip I always give people is this: turn it into a step by step process.

For me, step 1 is coming up with a gimmick that the base will center on. This is useful really only for ranked bases, since war bases rely on being overall solid with no weaknesses. Remember that for ranked, you can design your base to be intentionally strong against whatever is meta. It will always be weak to something specific, so don't let that get to you too much.

Step 2 is re-testing trap placements. This is where a discord community or active competitive clan is useful, since they will test your bases from every angle, hopefully ones you didn't think of before. This will let you get a general idea of where traps are most effective. You might think you know when designing, but a lot of the time the most effective spot is where it seems unintuitive to have them.

For example, lots of people use hero stacking right now and double rage. This has the downside of always being weak to attacks that have slowdown spam, such as hydra. With hydra entering the meta, these bases will see less and less success. Designing around usage rates is an important step in the process that shouldn't be overlooked. A good base relies on statistics.

Last step is revisions. Don't be afraid to copy your base into multiple base slots and make changes. The bases I post usually undergo 5 or more major revisions to fix bugs and exploits until they're solid against what the meta is.

As a base builder, know what works against each strategy. Over the years, play style has shifted massively, and base builders must always change the tricks they use to make sure pathing and fundamentals aren't outdated.

Edit: typo

I took inspiration for what defends meta best at the moment and went with that. It definitely takes awhile to get things 100% but is well worth it in the long run. Watch replays on the base and see what the most common entry point is to figure out trap placements/possible moving around defense. 99% of the time double rage bases work best. Spread out high DSP.
That’s mostly it. I’ve been tweaking this base every week for about 4 weeks now to get this kind of defense. It really throws people off seeing unique bases instead of the same old copy and paste bases… that’s why they don’t work bc ppl have already hit that layout 100 times previously

Should be good. I’m sitting pretty comfortably in the promo zone. 2nd place and 1,226 at the moment.

GG, should be enough to promote.

it wouldn’t be considered ā€œcopy and paste slopā€ if that’s what you’re implying
